G'day all, been sitting here in the office listening to the ABC's coverage of the MCG test - pretty uncompetitive as I type... I'm assuming some of you are as interested in it as I am, so thought I'd start off a discussion :)
so what do you guys make of the status of Australia in the world of cricket? are we THAT good or is everyone else THAT bad?
I was really looking forward to the indian's having a good go at Australia this summer, but towards the edn of day 2 of the first test, it doesn't bode well.
So far this season we have obliterated Sri Lanka (Hobart test wasn't as close as it looked IMHO)... the Kiwi's showed not much in the waste of time chappell-hadlee series... and we still have a few players not pulling their weight...
For the bowlers - Is Hogg worth it? for me, not a sniff - give us Tait, Lee and Johnson for a seriously fast trio with the reliable Clark as the batsman annoying McGrath-clone.
Batting wise we seem to have it pretty much ok with a good blend of stroke players (Ponting, Clarke), accumulators (Hayden, Jaques, Hussey) and destructors (Symonds, Gilcrist) between which it will be a rare sight to not make 300 runs in an innings.
