would the places that install brake controllers
have some sort of testing equipment for second hand units?

you can test them with a high wattage light bulb (ideally the same draw as the brakes themselves.

simply plug the light bulb in where the brakes should be and when you stomp the who pedal it should light up.

the amount it lights up is dictated by how hard the unit is telling the brakes to turn on.

the best test is to simply hook the light up and put it somewhere safe then go for a drive... braking with various severity should show you the same effect on the light if you have one of the smart brakeing systems.

had it tested and, of course, its broken.
add that to the two 135 amp/hr batteries that also
died, and its turned out to be an expensive weekend.

Not good :(

I got my Prodigy on ebay for around $170 - much cheaper than RRP.

Still an expensive weekend though.

well I finally have trailer brakes:banana::misclock::clap2::arms:
its been so long since I've used drum brakes I'm not sure how effective they are supposed to be,,
even on full hard they wont lock up,, they ARE working,, but just using the manual slide makes for a nice lesurely brakeing experience:D.

Have removed the 9 kg gas cylinder and battery from the A frame,, batteries will go inside the pole compartment across the inside front of the camper,, thats A LOT CLOSER to the centre of the camper. I have replaced the single 9 with twin 4kgs, a much better option.

All thats left to do is purchase the battery controller from Tim,, a couple of decent batteries, and install them.

not looking forward to buying the charger required to keep these alive:eek:

Myrphy usually strikes in three.

So, two batteries, one controller, you are in the clear :D:D
