Hi All,
Im new to this forum after just purchasing my first RR.
IT has had the 4.4 Leyland conversion. It is using the 3.5 heads, and seems very neat in the conversion.
My problem is that I am having difficulty locating the engine number. I have searched everywhere but cannot find it. It is driving me mad.
Can someone please help with some ideas.
I will post some pics shortly
Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome
The engine number on the 4.4 is behind the left hand head on the block where the top of the gearbox bolts to the block , im sure its on the left hand side:D
You will need a mirror on a stick to help read the number

Had a look Rangieman but still cannot see anything....
Hoping it hasnt been ground off!!!!!!!!
Any other ideas...
I had read on another thread that the engine number cannot be seen when a 4.4 is fitted to a rangie but I doubt this is correct.
Thanks again

It is very hard to see you might have to drop the engine mounts out to lower the front of the engine to be able to see the number:cool:

Thanks everyone for your replies
I took the air cleaner off and folded the bonnet right back. Its where you said Rangieman.
You can only just read the numbers but atleast its there.
The problem is though that when Vicroads changed the engine number over with the previous owner they have not only read it backwards! but a couple of numbers are wrong. ( 3 not an 8 etc).
I went to Vicroads and told them. They said as long as the new RWC has the engine number that is listed on the engine they can correct their records.
Thanks again.
