I have had a look at one today, and am seriously thinking of buying it.

Ok I have just found out that those questions were irrelevant as there has only ever been 2 made, and there will not be any more. Now I am still interested in this camper trailer, but I have a bit of a dilemma. I have a choice, there is also another camper trailer I like and I cannot make my mind.

So I figured I would put up the options to the forum, and hopefully I can glean some opinions that might help me decide.

Option 1

SEcamp Trailer
Manufactured by Jayco, is a flip top hard floor type. comes complete with annex, Independant suspension, very solid chassis with recovery points.
Battery (100ah I think) no inverter or charger though, 240v input and out.
59ltr stainless water tank, stainless slide out kitchen with 2 burner dometic stove. 40ltr engel. It took less than a minute to erect the canvas so you could get in sleep for an overnite stop.

This camper seems to be poorly finished in that some items are attached with self tappers which protrude into areas that can be seen, some wiring appears to be unfinished, and it looks look like they have covered the marine ply with contact sheeting that is peeling. Also some of the interior LED lights don't work properly. None of the problems are going to be difficult to remedy, for instance I was thinking of changing the self tappers to rivets.

This trailer was originally priced at $22k plus rego, so far I have it down to $18.5k drive away.

Trailer 2 is manufactured by Performance campers here in WA. I have been interested in their campers for a long time as they appear to be very well made. In fact I talked my brother into buying one just over a year ago and he has been very happy.

This trailer is a hard top, but soft floor camper, has 7 leaf suspension, 75 ltr water tank with hand operated tap on the swing out rear gate with a shelf for a stove, the canvas is 10oz for the walls and 12 oz for the roof. plenty of storage under the bed and in the box on the draw bar. Also comes with a stone guard. There are no electrics in this camper, I would have to install tem myself. This camper would be able to have solar panels fitted to the top, which is something I have been thinking of doing. cost of this camper is $16.2k

Both campers are drum brake override type and both also have a 9kg gas bottle.

So what do you think the poorly finished well appointed one, or the more basic well made one?

Try this web site: Australian off road camper trailers (http://www.campertrailers.org/)

I'm in the market for one as well. At this stage I'm looking favourably at Cape York Trailers, T-Van and Kimberly Kampers plus a couple of others.

The Cape Yorks appear very well made and I'm just waiting for a work collegue to get back from holidays so I can check their new one out.

I was hoping to get away with a good one for under $20k, though I did go and look at the Adventure range, and Cape York would be the best one without going to far over the top, but still just over $27k. I did like the T Van though.

I am also aware of a second hand Kimberly Kamper becoming available in a couple of weeks for $15.5, but for that price I don't know it's condition or which model. The owner told me it would be worth the wait.

Yep I rang them when I got the Quokka Friday morning but it had already been sold.

I was looking at a TVan, which I love, but unfortunately the finances don't go that far.

The variety is huge, I am just trying to find one I like at the right cost.
Also the shopping list includes a generator (Yamaha or Honda) and Solar panels.
