I need to remove the stereo on a 99 d2. The steroe is the one with two little holes down either side, is there anything that can be used as substitute for the original pins.

If it is like the Disco I I used a small allen key to remove the unit

Coat hanger wire may also work if they are round holes.

Absolutely, coat hanger wire will do the trick. You need to cut is and jam them into all 4 holes so that they wedge in and then you can pull back on them when they release the head unit.

If your radio has two release holes on each side then get some stiff wire that will fit in the holes and make up a couple of "U" shaped bits and stick them in to each side to release the catches. You may need to wiggle the whole thing a bit to get it to release but it should work.

If you're in brizzy give us a yell.
I used my BMW MC ones to pull the stereo out of my previous 2WD Bravo.
Probably work for you too.:)

When I needed the radio out of my County, I went to Strathfield Car Radio and they pulled it out for free.

Failing that, use one of these...

If you are pulling it out to replace with a new one then it should come with the two metal pins of its own. If not, then any car stereo place will have a million of them from previous installations they would probably give you.
