They are a copy of the Howling Moon / ARB tent but the fabric is quite different.
Looking at the photos, is seems just the very top of it is the rip-stop canvas, or it's a much thinner grade than the originals. I think the rest is just polyester, but that being said they are very cheap for a RTT. Would also be a bit lighter.
We have a Howling Moon tent and we love it.

Ask the Seller some questions about the fabric and more pics, if they don't respond, steer clear, Regards Frank.

my mate came around with one yesterday seems to pretty well made the fabric on the sides looks strong the top fly is a lighter polyester material it acts a shade for the main tent roof .roomy inside, the only thing on the downside i saw was some of the stiching points would need waxing as they looked like needle was oversized for the thread in a few areas

The seller obviously has a good reputation.

I would want clarification on the "ladder extension" & Skirt before committing to buy.

looks the same as the other couple chinese rooftops available on ebay but they're going down in price... i bought mine just over a year ago for 900 delivered.

Quite a good tent for the dollars. Mattress is too thin so will need to find an alternative for that... i'm thinking a self inflating one for underneath. Good ventilation and didn't leak when it bucketed down which was a plus :D

what sort of zippers are on the one you got...?

the matresses are nothing more than just foam rubber.......
you can get a piece cut to size at clarke rubber....or you can simply buy a
piece of that egg crate foam rubber and place it under the one you already have......

can anyone who has one of these or similar please post a pic of the mounting system? I know they generally use 2 or 3 roof bars but I am wondering if I could fit one to my rack.

We've got one - fine for the price, but as others have said, a lighter duty copy of the Open Sky tents. We've now migrated to a camper trailer, but I'll probably keep this for when I go away by myself for a short trip.

here is their reply to my question about the weather skirt and ladder extension........

Hi Tony, we will be listing the weather skirt and ladder extension shortly. The weather skirt gives added shelter below the rooftop tent ($195). The ladder extension is required when the height of your car including the roof racks is more than two metres high. We can give you a discount if you can confirm exact quantities and delivery details or postcode.

it says that the cover uses a YKK zip, so would assume the rest are the same.

Crump, if you look at the 2nd photo in on the bottom row you will see an aluminium channel on the bottom of the tent floor, this allows you to slide the mounting bolts along it to clamp on roof bars at any distance apart, however, I had a tjm rack that I cut the sides off to allow the tent to fold out, and I found that it's really hard yakka to get the zip that holds the cover on as it is around the bottom of the tent, and was too close to the rack to do easily. I changed over to roofbars and it's SOOOO much easier to pack.
I have the tent on a 04 defender and don't need the ladder extension (we bought one anyway, but have never used it.
It could be useful if you opened the tent towards a downhill slope.
I would recomend you get the additional annex(?) thingy, as it will give SWMBO somwhere to dress properly, spread out clothes etc.
BTW, I have a friend in WA got one of these tents for $350!!!
Can't go wrong at that!

We bought one of these, they are great.A few weeks ago we where out at Carnarvon Gorge and had 9inches in one night, didn't leak at all, except we left the door open.....I have HD springs in my 110 so the extension is needed. We also have the skirt, but is a tad short so will need to add a floor or something to make work. When it looks like heavy rain we add a tarp over the top.For the price they are great, and have fantastic air flow.Had it mow for 9 months been on plenty of touring trips and have had no problems.

cheers

He won it for 350 in an auction, it was a few months back, they seem to be more popular now though. I guess you guys should make sure you don't bid against each other as there are plenty of them!

Just looking at these myself now, how are you going with the tent? are they easily mountable to a D2 roof bars or do you recommend a new set of roof racks?
The cheapest ones seem to be 600-800.Not sure on the mounting points. if anyone has any tips, that would be appreciated.
