Does anyone know how to clear these fault lights on a D2 ?
I understand Jaycars has an ODU unit suitable for many vehicles but not for LR's. Are there any other units available ?
Unfortunately a D2 relies on ABS/TC to give "4WD". Without TC a D2 has 4 chances of getting stuck when off-road.
Appreciate any suggestions - Dave S

You need to take it to a Landy specialist (i don't reccomend a dealer for this fault clearing and check:twisted:) it could be a faulty/loose/dirty sensor or connector.
A fault clear and check should only be around $50:)

The D2 has constant 4WD - the lack of ABS or TC won't change that.
Are you the same Dave Stimson who worked for OTC?
Surely there couldn't be two Stimmos?

Yes its me ! But you are wrong about the D2 being 4wd, it is reallyan AWD, more like a Subaru. With 3 diffs, without a locking centre diff. or TC, if one wheel is in mud or hung up on a rock there you stay with just that wheel spinning !
I'd still like to be able to clear the faults myself. I havew heard that in the USA an aftermarket odu is available but I cannot find a source.
Good to hear from you ron - Dave

Thanks Redback - but no dealers in the out back !
Alas with no centre locking diff or TC a D2 will be stuck if just one whell is bogged or hung up on a rock.

Without knowing if your D2 has its CDL but no actuator (or is totally without it), you could take a peek at the tail end of the X-fer case. I had all the lights on as you describe, and the wiring loom for my CDL (I have the internals but no actuator as yet) was rubbing on the cardan joint and earthing out causing said lights to illuminate.
Cheers

What about a Rovacom lite (http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/products.html)? Will that be able to help?

Hi Dave
Usually a dirty wheel sensor,Ive just come back from a trip and mine have just come on.
I need to clean up the sensors and check the connectors.
Its another common D2 fault.
PS I can lock my CDL as I have the internals all I needed was to make my own lever.

Dave, does youre car have a centre diff lock? There was a short period when the D2 was produced without a CDL.
I have a RovaCom FaultMate MSV to clear faults.
I've got the brochure up on my website: http://p38arover.com/rover/New MSV2.pdf
Give me a call 0408 483 269

Given that its likely to be a wiring fault or a dirty sensor (wiring fault will more than likely be a fatigue failed connector or abraded wire) if you find it and fix it the lights will clear when you shut down and restart.
The idiot lights will go out but the ECU will retain the fault code Until you get it to clear, Jaycar have an OBDII complient hand held unit that can do a master reset type clearance but they seem to be hit and miss Ive tried 3 1 refused to do anything but power up, 1 worked and one bought up a cabling error message.

Hi Dave Stimson
Ive been given a way to check find which wheel sensor is the problem, going to get mine up on the hoist at work tommorow and check to see if it works..
Will let you know how I get on as ive cleaned the dirt out of the 4 sensor points with air and water but still have the lights.
ABS is still active as Ive tested it out.

that wouldnt be the find your failed wheel sensor by getting up to speed on a gravel road and nail the brakes then check which wheel locked up test would it?......

Dave, I have the same problem (three amigos) and have had the mechanic repair the valve (was still under warranty)
It has come-ON twice since then and had same mechanic repair the fault at a cost of $ 80 a pop....Getting very frustrated at spending the money to get the dash light off with no garanties that 2 days latter they will be ON again...
It is now ON and I have tested breaking hard on tarmac and gravel... ABS at least is working!! If anyone has any ideas (switching off the unit altogether:D)..... I undersatnd the new units cost 3K... anyone with a spare going for a reasonable price?

Hi Texas
Have a look at this thread
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/49460-method-checking-wheel-speed-sensor-fault.html
Ive found if you jack 1 wheel at a time with CDL UNLOCKED and handbrake off if you run the car in gear the speedo will work if the wheel sensor is good(YEP D2s are 1 wheel drive with no CDL TCs:D:D:D:D).The wheel with no speedo working is the one with the dicky sensor.DONT GIVE IT CURRY JUST INCASE!!!!!! NO MORE THAN IDLE SPEED !!!!!!!
Im looking for a new/used good rear sensor to put in mine to see if all is fixed.
Try and let us know the results PLEASE.
Andrew
