Hey All

I have been thinking about buying a reader such as a Rovacom lite or something similar that would allow diagnosis of problems and clearing codes. The rovacom gear looks real good but is expensive.

I have seen this item on ebay -
Range Rover Land Rover Discovery Freelander Defender - eBay, 4x4 Accessories, Car Accessories, Tuning, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 17-Jan-08 13:33:16 AEDST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Range-Rover-Land-Rover-Discovery-Freelander-Defender_W0QQitemZ150203220553QQihZ005QQcategoryZ3 0862QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

What do people reckon? Any problems or limitation with this sort of tool?

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

Angus

Hi Angus
Pretty sure these have been covered here before.
Not suitable for the D2 electronics, late D1 and Defender td5 possibly if I remember correctly.
Jaycar sell a very similar unit if you want to see if they can try one on yours. They had a demo unit on the counter last time I was in there, they were way to busy to plug it in due to xmas trade.

I have one, not the same, but similar - and it works perfectly on my 2002 D2, but doesnt seem to work on the defenders I have tried it on

you can't activate anything from these tools - like the ABS pump to bleed it, or door locking procedures - but for what you say u want it for - clearing fault codes - I reckon it would be good if it interfaces properly.
