With a cargo barrier fitted and the rear door only activated electrically, should the lock actuator fail it would be pretty tough to get into the boot area. Would it be possible to fit a manual key-lock barrel to allow the door to be unlocked manually?
Perhaps using a doorlock assembly from a D1? Has anyone looked into this possibility?

I doubt its possible.
How about a length of string tied to the inner handle and ran up the inside of the roof over the luggage???

We helped a D1 owner out whilst on our Cape Riche trip.
He couldnt open the back door,no cargo barrier, wouldnt open from inside either.
We removed the landy badge and sprayed the lever mechanism with CRC,presto she opened up!!!!
One very happy camper.

On mine there's enough room to slip an arm through from the rear seat and undo the cargo barrier attaching nuts.

The other issue I've heard about is something in the rear area falling and landing on the little rear door lock button thing. Doesn't take much weight to hold it down, preventing the central locking from unlocking the door...
The work around I saw involved old film canister inverted and taped over the locking button.
