G'day Guys,
The only place I could source the silver anodized chequer plate was in the UK, so had to wait for a visitor to bring them over - HAND LUGGAGE!!!!
These came from Rebel 4x4 in the UK - well know suppliers of LR Bling
I first of all placed the plate on the guard and marked where all the holes need to be drilled:

Drilled out the panel to slightly bigger than the stainless bolts I got from the local boat shop:

Cut out the radio Ariel hole:

Bit of black Sikaflex and bolt them all on

NOICE bit of bling

Well if your fenders aren't hard enough, I reckon you're going to need them.
:D

They do not just add bling, but are great for standing on when tying down roof racks, as a ladder (to reach heights) and as protectors when working, not to mention great tables.
Anodised from th UK??? Why not just get polishe aluminium checkerplate. Available cheap by the sheet. But you will have to cut to suit.

I have had them on all my series landies including the bonnet.
Adds lots of strength to them ( I made mine myself as I work for a laser cutting company :D )

I'd advise black, as it cuts down on reflected glare that you can get driving into the sun. (I know, I own a pair of polished alli myself and was thinking about repainting.)

Mate you need to do some more of your own work on your Defender :D then you'd notice how thin the ali is on the front guards - mine had lots of dents on the top from tools and elbows!!!

Got a set of polished ali. chequer plate from coopers in NSW, fit properly, added strength priced relatively well and I only had to con the postie into delivering to me at the door. Not much glare, too busy trying to avoid tourists to worry about it anyway. Black shmack.

They are the same as i have on the 90
I find them very usefull. For standing on and not steching the wing tops when doing anything in the engine bay

Then there is also the checker plate on the side of the car. Now that is great as it protects the side from you shoes suffing the paint workon the sill and the rear bit stop stones from the rear tyre straching the car:D
