Hey Hey and a Happy New Year to everyone
Anyone know the part number for the blackout decal for the bonnet of a D1? (As per Camel Cuo vehicles...to stop the glare of roof bourne spotties)
Failing that, anyone know of a decent decal maker/ signwriter who has the dimensions to be able to cut one?
Thanks in advance
Jason

Partly that depends on where you are?
I've seen a few cases where people have painted it on.

The Yanks on Discoweb.org are big on hood Black outs, I think they use a vinyl stick on blackout

Phoenix, I wasn't too fussy about where I sourced the sticker (its just a bit of extra postage) I was more concerned that the supplier would do a good job. But for the record I am in Alice Springs.

I see that too (as well as on landroversonly.com) but was hoping there may be someone in Oz that could do one. (The Americans get enough of our money anyway, don't you think............oh no, now he's done it)
Keep the suggestions coming though
Thanks guys

isn't that space on the bonnet a bit curved?? won't this cause problems with the sticker (haven't looked that closely at a disco bonnet recently)

I purchased a Matt Black bonnet sticker when I went to the show at Billing.
I didn't throw away the glassine liner backing paper and have been using it as a templet to make more for me and my mates. You can buy the self adhesive black PVC from sign making shops....but obviosly you need a pattern and about three mates to help you put in on properly...or you get wrinkles/creases.
Send/PM me your postal address dude...

Wont make any difference, if you remove the sticker later the paint around it will be a different colour to the paint that was under it anyhow.

Stone chip paint works really well, $15.00 a can.
If your heart is set on vinyl it's a bit of a PIA to put on, soapy water, heatgun & a squeege will help you out. Spray the surface with soapy water, this will allow you to peel it off real easy, when you have placed it just squeege the water out.

Jason.
I got your PM thx.
A one meter long tube with matt black bonnet black-out left Dubai today for the NT's.
Take your time putting it on....along with a few mates to keep the thing from flopping around.
Or if you don't feel up to it...try one of the sign making people in your area...they would have alot of experiance in handling large self-adhesive sheets.
Enjoy.

mine is painted matte black,
did it myself, piece of cake,
about $30 for the paint and thinners and the tape...
the rest of the bonnet is raw polished alloy,
as some of you have seen...
looks good to me!
