Hi guys,
After the inspiration from Blknight.aus and his post http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-tutorials/48963-how-make-cheapy-sand-tracks-ladders-mats-whatevers-offsite-image-warnings.html#post663904 my thinking thing was tuned to getting a hold of some milk crates and giving the Blknighttrax a go, when l remembered something that struck me as a brilliant idea!!:D
After some careful negotiation with one of my compardras in the industry on the gold coast, l was able to acquire a couple of, um lets say box's from a, lets say?
"well lets not say hey!":wasntme:
anyway after a few Pepsi Max's and some careful thought!:closedeyes::glare::huh::D some cutting, trimming and sanding l can now proudly present the first of many (unless the supply runs out! ),
the new and brilliant "Hubbatrax"

love your work.
they also look like they'd be just the ticket for ground matting in front of tents and the like to help cut down on sand ingress.

Nice work...they look quite professional! You need some nobbly bits though for the tyres to grip though...
And given they have holes in them you might be able to fix aup a trick looking mount onto a roof rack or something...look like a Camel trophy disco!! :D

Im sorry to rain on your hubbatracks, but the best thing ive found for sand recovery is the matting the roading contractors use under the highway when they lay the seal, you know the gray matting thats in a 5 metre long roll you see on the side of the road before they put down the base rock? a quick stop near some road works late at night to cut off a few metres and it folds up real small to store in the back of the truck too.

I wonder if acquiring an old MT tyre and cutting it up untill you get a panel of tread and bolting it to the track would work. Would start to get a bit heavy though. Just got get some MaxTrax :P I did... I much prefer the orange colour:P
