View Full Version : 300Tdi AC Circuit Diagram

Does anyone have a circuit diagram / schematic for the AC on a 300Tdi Defender?

The electric fan on mine was connected to an aftermarket relay switched by an IGN +'ve feed and fed from a wire directly off the back of the alternator (via a circuit breaker).

I disconnected the alternator wire, though I can re-route it from the starter solenoid, but I need to find the correct switching wire that turns on with AC.

Where does it run? What color is it?

I've booked the car in for an AC service tomorrow and then realised the whole fan issue, and I'd like to resolve this myself rather than pay someone $80p/h to nut out someone elses mistakes.

If you have a link to a diagram, or can email me one that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I have it - it might be 200 Tdi or it may be 300 Tdi - but it is the Aussie system.

Was that the right diagram for your vehicle?

Yes, but te tablet doesn't have a CD drive and the laptop got dropped by the 4y/o, so I can't access it.

Was that the right diagram for your vehicle?

I wired it up to the compressor (via a fuse and relay), I'll study the circuit diagram and see if I can find the proper feed.

Re-gas was great, the AC blows 2degC at the vents at half power (3o'clock) setting. I'll see how it copes on the next HOT day.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm jumping in this thread since it seems lots of you know about the A/C systems on the Defenders.

I am replacing the hoses on my 1995 Defender 130. I've been told the fittings going from the drier into the evap/expansion valve is a M16x1.5 thread pitch fitting fitted to a #6 reduced barrier hose. The fitting actually fits to a hard line that goes to the evap/exp valve, but I am changing it all to flex line. Coming out of the evaporator is the hose (commonly referred to as the suction hose) going to the compressor is M24x1.5 thread pitch fitting going onto a #10 hose.

Can anyone confirm if this is indeed correct? Both of those fitting thread pitches are not common in the US where I am. The M24x1.5 is just not found here. Thanks for the help!!!!
