I have added some eyes on the front in line with the chassis rails and had some plate steel welded around those for added strength. The same eyes are fitted to my rear bar and all are painted red.
Have spent so much money on the thing but I just can;t help myself. She goes places in comfort and always gets me home again:D Long list of mods which is only getting longer.

Yes, currently have a 40mm King spring lift. Bilsteins on the front and extended pedders on the rear. I get some slight rubbing at full compression and with the steering lock on but nothing too worry about really. Guard chop will hapen eventually when I have time.

How to post that photo:
First have two windows of web browser open or tabs in firefox.... one with your AULRO message writing pane, the other with the website with your photo.
1. Find out what the photos URL etc address is.
2. To do this - R click (in windoz machine) the photo from your website where your photo resides (in properties)
3. From the little window that comes up after R click of photo Find URL of photo and copy that using mouse drag/swipe.
4. Paste into the little message editing box with the litle square and someting that loks like a mountain silouette in the AULRO message window.
5. preview post.
voila...

Was it removed or did some models not have the decal. My D1 never had the Land Rover decal on the bonnet either (post #27 in this thread) - I was told at the time that there were some that came out without. Everything else about that vehicle seemed to be original, even the decals on the sides.

I wanted a Disco since 1995 when a mate's parents bought a Tdi and they let me drive it - such a lucky bugger. She was manual and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
So 12 years later, I finally got mine, purchased first week of Feb '07:
Built Nov '00, first registered in April I think 2001. Td5, 5 seater, no ACE or SLS. Currently has 189K kms on the clock. I'm the 3rd owner but the 2nd owner bought it from Lance Dixon LR for their round Australia Trip but had a massive heart attack and died only 2 months after purchase. Since purchase I've taken off the factory steps and sold for a pretty penny on ebay, fitted an ARB Winch Bullbar, GME TX3400 UHF and Motorola GM950Plus VHF Radios, installed an old aftermarket Pioneer stereo with 12 stacker, 12" sub and amp. I've also made up a rear work/camp light which is telescopic; will post pics when I have one.

Also when the tube is behind the panel I don't think a 3" OD will fit?

yeah mate cut em myself there is a bit to it as you have to seal the gap in the iner and outer door skin but if you take your time it isnt that hard
if you by the fiberglass flares the kit comes with every thing you need but i lengthened my wheelbas by 2 inches and fitted gq diffs so the fiberglass flare would not fit my truck

Arrived in Adelaide on a Friday, walked down the road to a couple of car sales yards on Saturday. One yard had 2 Disco's a V8 auto with 220K and a Tdi 300 manual with 300K's 96 and 95 respectively $10 990 and $6 990 respectively, so I got the cheep one cheaper. Spent 2K at TRS the following week, I’m happy, that was 3 weeks ago. We have yet to discover (pun intended) where we can go and can not go, furthest we have been is gumeracha to pat a wallaby ( Minnie me did the patting and screaming he’s 20 months)

I got the flares from a chap on Ebay in UK. They were around 150 pounds for four which looking back was quite expensive.
To be honest I wouldn't buy them again either...these ones are fibre glass which can be quite brittle. There's a flexible plastic version out now which are the same price and are much more suitable for off roading. They advertise in the Rover mags...sorry I really can't remember the name of the company. When I find it I'll post it up somewhere.
My Disco was one of 900 built specificaly for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Interior. Built in 1998 with a basic spec of 3.9efi (I changed mine to 4.6 a few years later), LHD, manual R380 box, electric windows, central locking, steel rims and they were all in white colour.
When the Saudi's received them they rejeced the whole consignment because they thought they were getting the new Disco II. The local dealer had already paid the import duty on them and had to flog them off fast to make way for the new delivery....me and my mates bought 7 of them for less than half the showroom tag price!
They come up in the Landy amgs quite often these days....I still love mine...it's taken me all around the middle east and has only let me down a few times in the desert.
First time was a busted rear diff and the second was a blown head gasket 800km away from home in the desert of Oman. I fixed it on the spot with assistance of a satellite phone and a mini bus who bought the gasket set up from the nearest town that was 600km away.

While I'm at uni I'm paying just to keep it on the road. Graduating at the end of this year and then I'll get to drop some coin on it:twisted:. Mild to start with - 2" lift, 33's, cut arches and depending on time available custom bars to suite a 2" body lift :D.

They are by a bloke called Michael Samootin who runs 4x4 Design and Engineering. Dunno if hes still about.
They are excellent sliders. Tricky to install (lots of fiddling to get them to fit) but so worth it. When we first started 4wding we busted the sidesteps good on a rock so I got some rock sliders:D. Used them a few times too:cool:
Very strong construction but wasn't to impressed with the powder coating. Don't think they were cleaned properly first and the rust has started coming through (Not an issue yet as their very thick walled). When I do the guard chop they will have to come off and get shortened so I will fix it all up then.

Try this way;
when you get the file/URL from Imageshack copy and paste it to the post like this
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e25/mab3y/768.jpg
Once you do this, in front of the URL put AND after the URL with no spaces put
What should happen is this

In the above i have left out this ] to show you what it should look like minus the bracket, once that bracket is in it will show the photo.

Nice Siska
What size tyres are they?
They are 285/75R16 Overall dimension of 840mm which i guess makes them around 33inch?
And as you can see I need to trim the panels up a little more. I tried to do the minimum hoping I would get away with it, but unfortunately we didn't. So if anybody has some pix of how to trim the guards nicely and some nice 'cheap' flares I could put on then I would greatly appreciate it.

Are they mounted on the stock rims? I thought they would've needed 8" wide with a 25mm offset to run those.

Yep stock rims. At first the fronts used to catch a little on the protection arm at full lock. But a small adjustment and they are fine now.

Mt D2 V8, standard except for the Mondial wheels fitted when new. I've fitted a Scangauge II and the OE console cupholders. Planning to fit a CDL linkage, maybe 18in A/Ts or a set of 16in wheels with A/Ts. No hard core off-roading in this one, just some interstate highway trips, a few camper trailer trips with the family and a bit of work stuff.

I love the leather, but that steering wheel gives me the shudders everytime I look at it.
When we were doing the deal for the car, I tried to get the dealer to have it dyed black... Seems as thou he "wasn't able to find anyone"
But that aside, I am very happy with it, and with the dealer. They have gone out of their way to help, including pulling the dash out to find an annoying squeak behind there. Still looking for that one.

Funny you should mention the rattle.
Over the past couple of days, I have heard a noise that the best way to describe it would be a marble in the ashtray. It is only there when I take off from a total stop, but not there when I brake.
I have pulled everything out of the glove box, removed the ash tray & coin holder, taken everything out of the centre cubby box, and still cant find it.
I am about to go an have a look under the seats with a torch, and just see...

I got it from suspensionstuff.com.au $790 2'' inch dobinson coils and 26.5'' rear procomp shocks and 24.5'' front shocks. But you will need to retain the rear coils at the top and dislocation cones on the axle:D
Im very impressed aswell cant wait till I fit my 2.5'' body lift tommorrow:twisted:

Most of you have seen Elmo by now but these are the first pics of him off road :D. Must say the maxxis tyres are great in the mud and the ironman suspension was a lot better than i thought it would be :D.

Here is mine.....hopefully you can see something.:o First time trying to post an image....
Pretty plain. Has 2" lift. Soon to have new tyres. Recently acquired a 2nd set of rims, so I can have a set with mud and a set with road tyres....:D:D. Have side steps coming soon. Hoping for bull bar and front recovery points (maybe get a bullbar with rated point on it).
I'm sure the more driving I do....the list will keep growing.:D:angel:

Is it just me or is the disco high in the front end, considering it looks to be sitting level when the road falls away at the front toward the sand ?

Treads cheers mate, the roof lights are Cibie '35 Airport'. They are a 55w driving beam giving a really good spread. I think that they tuck in nicely on the ARB rack and mixed with the bar lamps which have ARB 55wHIR globes, daylight on a dark night is just a flick of the switch away.
Discofever, that was an awesome trip. All my friends piked at the last moment so I went by myself and spent five days out there. Got all four seasons that weekend. I was swiming in the Murray on the Friday and playing in the snow on Sunday and Monday.
That's a great place to go driving etc.
Cheers
George.

G'day Mate, that was on the Anzac weekend. It would have to be one of my favourite places to go. I used to go fishing up there 30 years ago with my dad when I was only 5. I caught my first trout up there on the Murray. Every trip there is a new experience and brings back so many good memories.
I'll get some decent pics of my car up soon.
Cheers
