Just 'cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!

I have been running Comodo for about 6 months and find it good for a freeby.
Infinatly more configurable than say XP firewall, (Cough), ZoneAlarm or similar.

As for global hooks in essence it's a bit of code, (DLL) looking for input of one description or another and tells the system how to react to that input.

They can be used for keyboards, mice etc but also key-loggers and the like.

If you run a new "unknown" application, (ie Explorer etc will be fine to allow) and comodo screams, you can scan the application for spyware and viruses if you want to rest easy but in reality, (as Inc said) it's "probably" nothing to worry about. More likely it's your multi-media keyboard or whatever.

Spot on - global hooks (or hooking) is part of an application (in this case comodo) that intercepts input commands (from keyboard, mouse, usb, network and even other applications) BEFORE they can be recieved and actioned by the operating system. Allowing you to decide if this command is authorised
