Just had a look at your pics guys. Looked like you had fun but whose idea was it to take the fender in for a swim nearly ended in tears. You said you got there on high so from this i take that none of the lagoons had broken thru. The last time i was there two of them had and the first was only passable close to low tide. Was the inland track still closed? Lastly how was the mozzie situation as last time i drove thru camp sites it was pretty bad which turned the better half of the idea of camping there.:mad::mad:

Yep went up at hightide and was slow soft going but still driveable... none of the lagoons seem'd to have broken through at all... inland track was still closed for an undetermined amount of time, we asked the rangers and they couldn't let us know when it will reopen.

The mozzies weren't too bad... had much worse up at fraser... a few march flys around but the bushman kept the bities at bay :D:D:D

All in all a very enjoyable night away, wish i could have stayed longer myself but for my first time there was a good time... oh and the sand in the lagoon held the wait of my spotters... just not my fender :( But luckily we have a good bunch of members who have learnt well and followed all the recovery and safety procedures perfectly ;)

Do you think you need heavier spotters then? I go to bribie a fair bit on day trips and it is an awesome spot for the kids to play in the Lagoons in relative safety. Would of come out to see you guys but I work on saturdays so couldn't. The inland track is good drive as you can have a look at the old lighthouse and there is a good grassed campsite at poverty creek(mozzi reppellant a must have) it was also a good route if it is high tide as on some high tides the beach is untrafficable. As i mentioned in the previous post if the lagoons break thru even at low tide the crossing can be too deep for some. Last time i went there i had about five people watch me go thru b4 they were game enough too. Water was level with side steps and flowing quite fast but was pretty easy too cross though not sure what every one else was worried about .

Its always fine to cross the lagoons, its when you stop the problem begins as the vehicle sinks, fast! :)
Josh could have continued forward in his fender, but the short stop was enough to have him spin the wheels abit and by then it's loo late.

The initial recovery should have seen josh come out about 4 meters sooner than where he actually ended up. But Josh being josh wanted to provide abit more entertainment :D
