I think Im on my own here with a V8, then add to that HSE with all the fruit, plus only black one as well . Aside from that I think most people have it in their sig's as to what D3 they have,

The SE TDV6 serves me well.
Coming up to 3 years old. Will have to decide: do I keep it or trade up to a ...................................SE TDV6.
TDV6 is great. SE spec is all I need.

There is a 3 litre TDV6 coming, but I am not sure when. It shouldn't be too far away.

Bugger,
You tell me this now, I've got a TDV6SE with upgraded sound and an active rear diff on order, build date Jan/feb. Atacama Sand/ Tundra interior.

I have mentioned it in another thread somewhere... I don't remember where.
I have no idea when it will be released, but my warranty system already has it installed, so I imagine it isn't too far away.
I am sure you will be very happy with your D3 even if it does come with the 2.7 TDV6. They are a ripper of an engine. Getting the active rear diff is a great idea too, if I was ordering one (one day...) I would definately option it.

BigJon, is there such a thing as an LR/dealer staff discount that would make getting one more a reality? Or do you have to hang out for trade-in?

Not that I have ever heard of. I am sure the boss would look after me, but I am in no position to buy a new car at the moment. Besides, my Classic RR suits me very nicely and was less than one tenth the price :D.

I have D3 envy, but that doesn't seem to be an option :p

Mines coming up to 3 years in April 08.
Too many add ons for me to be bothered with changing anytime soon. Also how many people out there will pay top dollar for a D3 that has far too many scratches on the duco and scraps underneath :(
If LR do actually increase the TDV6 to 3.0 lt what do you think the fuel consumption will be like. I'd like more km/lt but I don't think that will come with a bigger engine.

Ditto, except mine's 3 years in August and she'll have done around 150,000 by then.

I would imagine the fuel consumption rate would be either the same or slightly better than the 2.7.
A big engine being lazy will often be more efficient on fuel than a small engine working hard.

I find it hard to understand that out of all the D3's you see on the road there's only 24 forum users (assuming they all polled on this tread). I wonder if that means there's only 24 D3's that go off road or there's only 24 that are IT literate?

Not that strange if you think about it. LR is considered a prestige brand, majority are most likely bought for that reason, like RRS and RR's. Its not so much about it being a 4WD but a presitge vehicle. When I bought mine it was $105k, people thought I was nuts taking it off road, even with it dropping in price, still think I am nuts. Look on say carsales for 03/04 D2 models, most of them have never been taken off road. Look on AULRO, there arent many late model LR's, aside from mainly Fenders. Taking it further, any late model brand of 4WD is predominately used for larger families ie the shopping trolley/ school bus...not 4WDing. Hence why I will never buy new again, but pick up a road used model and then go play, not the other way around,

Stevo, I reckon you're on the money. There aren't too many people out there wishing to take a $100K 4WD down a dirt road let alone a rocky track.
Occasionally I head down the more prestigious suburbs of Melbourne and see D3's and RRS like they were Commodores or Falcons and they are really used as shopping trolleys.
A mate at work told me yesterday that his bro just picked up his RRS TDV6 with satnav and he didn't even know what the 4x4 info screen would be used for. That RRS will never see a dirt road.

Well, I must be stranger than what I thought. If you spend all that money on such a capable 4WD, you've got to use it, and I've had a ball the last 12 months getting my D3 dirty.:D:D:D:D:D

Picked up Friday afternoon at 3pm and on the 6am barge to Fraser next morning even before SWMBO had even seen it. It needs to go OR.
Too many (not as many as Jamo) extras to upgrade just yet. I would like a TDV8 HSE next.

Mate, you'll have to sign up for our sort of regular ex-Brisbane day trips. D3's are always outnumbered at these events!

Why isn't there a V8 SE option on the poll?
Mine is the only one I've ever seen though I guess.

Ours must have been shipmates, picked mine up on Wednesday. 2400KM on it now, went out to Collie for Easter and did a day trip to Cobar and return via Nymagee.
