HI guys,

need some help with my gear box, its poping out of 1st and second gear , and it sounds terrible, looser than a nuns ......

also when i pull up at the lights in neutral a hear a back slapping clunk clunk noise not good, needs to come out for a rebuilt, plus its leaking oil all over the place.

what would i expect to pay to get the gear box and transfer case rebuilt??

i tried all 4x4 but they qouted me $1200 for the box and $1100 for the transfer case reconditioned. my jaw droped, i can buy a few landi,s with that money

anyone know some one in sydney who is down to earth with there prices??

thanks for the help

regards Eddie

assuming its done by the book thats about right for a full overhaul of a series box including new bearings, seals syncros and selector forks.

an on the fly replace it all and bugger the tolerances rebuild should only cost you about 1/2 that in labour and wont get you new syncro rings or selectors.
they work well enough and are simple enough that you can often get away with it.

Try Land veichle spares at silverdale. I just picked up a completly overhuled box for my series 3 for a top price. cant tell you whatprice as i dont want to start a bidding war out there but all i can say is that land vehicle spares is the only place to go for parts and advice.

I am replacing thebox tomorrow if you would like to have a look.

cheers
