Hi guys,
I need a little input, & this seems like the ideal place to do some asking. The time has come for me to place my old Landy on the market.
It's a S111 stage 1 Isuzu model, 1982. was originally an Omnibus (11seater) but has been downrated to a 5 seater now. I grafted in Toyota Tarago front seats, for a bit of comfort. I've fitted power steering from a defender, driven by an Isuzu direct coupled P/S pump. (couldn't grip the old wheel with arthritis in my hands) This vehicle was very sad & neglected when I bought it, but a 4 year project & it's been a very reliable unit ever since.
I haven't a clue how many Km's on it, plenty, and quite a few more I'd suggest, I've replaced the speedo twice, the mileage cog stripped out. (first replacement was the wrong ratio) Doesn't burn much oil, maybe 1 to 1,1/2 ltrs between Mackay & Melbourne (3000km) towing an 8' wide full height single axle older style caravan, seems to enjoy the work better than normal driving. It returns 10 km/ltr driven sedately & around 6.5 k/ltr towing around 90/95kph. Good healthy tractor sound.
Apart from re-build everything from the chassis up, replacing a few rusty bits, fitting 2 custom tanks giving a 150 ltr capacity & re-directing the aircleaner inlet via a short pipe & hood on the LHS mudguard, fitting an overhead console, making & fitting a Hayman reese type sprung towing hitch, it's fairly original, though I have done away with all BSF bolts & used threaded anchor plates wherever possible to make working on this vehicle a 1 man operation. All pertinent modifications have been engineer approved & the modification plate is fitted. It comes with spotties, hinged spare wheel carrier & a home made Bull-bar. It also features a tropical roof.
I guess it suffers from all the normal "Landy" ailments, leaks when it rains, is damned noisy, sports the odd oil leak, has an inadequate heater. but it is strong!
I know they are collectors items, but I haven't a clue as to what it's worth. I don't want to make a killing on it, I'd rather see it go to someone who knows what they're getting. It also comes with a heap of spares, front & rear axles, complete drum to drum, V8 gearbox, entire front panels, bonnet, grille, wings, front doors, tops as well, wiring loom, pedal boxes & heaps of other stuff.
So, suggestions please. If anyone in this forum is interested I can make up a detailed list & take some pics etc. Thanks for looking, Bill
