I'm not sure that came out right.............
I mean, if it's in a vehicle and part of the trim that's OK but otherwise looks a bit, well, naff.
It's OK for draws/barriers/liners etc but in the cab erghh

yeah you're right , it doesn't quite look Trim , I would personally prefer the Type where the laptop and cradle is above centre console
like the Ram-Mount , but as you mentioned the home made jobbie is cheap and affordable
not sure if you're seen this

that looks good enough and substantial.
I have seen a simmilar-ish DIY job made with the seat post, (including quickrelease) from a push bike so the laptop could swivel and go up n down. It was weled onto the gearbox tunnel. Looked the part though and must have cost about $0 :D

naaaa sorry, I cant even remember where I saw it.
I just saw it and though, good idea, I might do that for my LCD
It's hard to describe even, it was just the centre pole of a bike frame, (where the seat stem/pole pushes in) weled to a metal plate which was bolted to the tunnel.
