Around 50k on the clock. They look like the best 300tdis you could find.

Thanks all.
They cartainly look nice and bright ! and low kms.
I am looking at an (admitedly much higher kms)vehicle this weekend - but it has a few extras like fuel tank etc that these don't. WIll see how the inspection turns out. The pronlem with these ones is that they come up for auction in the middle of the time I plan to be at Fraser and since it will be some time before I have another holiday that's something I don;t want to miss !
Sigh. Thanks again.

Alright I'll bite... Clear from the world of proper side steering wheels :o
What would you guys consider this truck or some of the others on the Auction site to be worth? Defenders are silly expensive up here in the states with a VERY clean 1993 NAS spec 110 going for as much as $100K USD. I recently bought my '97 County 5 speed 300 TDi with 127K miles on the clock for $30K USD, that's considered a good price for a Grey Market car.. (I've gotten used to the steering wheel being on the wrong side of the car)
Anyway I'm just curious. It will probably chap my tail enough to make me grumble through the day, but I'm still curious. A 130 chassis or cab would cost $10K in good condition over here. The Chassis another $4500. We get a lot of it from the UK but it seems that it's drying up.

I expect it will easily reach the $40k Aus mark if theres more than 3 people who want it.

You can use pickels auctions online. It just like being there and really good. I looked at a low km 130 that was ex airforce. Unfortunately it went for around the 40K mark or a bit over from memory. (which was way way over the red book price) YOu have to pay to get access to the auction but they reimburse you if you don'ty buy anything. A great set up. Do your research but the ones that I have seen through pickels seem to attract alot of interest. Best of luck. I couldn't use this function at work but can at home.

$40k :eek::eek::eek:
That's a lot for a TDI isn't it?
I'm only chasing $30,000 once my gearbox is sorted. It comes with a list of accessories as long as your arm.

Have you spoken to VladTepes about it yet??

yep $40k is more than their redbook by something like 100% (depending on year they list at $20 for a good condition one) but a good well looked after one is few and far between and while they are almost never a perfect solution to any given situation if you had a business where you had to move a small group of people and a fair whack of equipment they are just the thing. The ADF still uses them for the Doggies dogs in the tray and the guys in the back.
IF someone was to offer me a 1:1 swap for big red if the 130 was mechanically sound, rust free lowish KM at least as tidy as big red manual R380 with 4t tow pack the Hd suspension and had a decent bull bar and side steps (think big red with 20 more inches) Id do the swap tomorrow.

Bugger, 40000 is lot of dough, about 25.000 more than my disco if I can get 15000 for the TDi300 ! :o
No if I need a really big rig I keep my Disco as shopping trolley and get with the 25000 a Mitsubishi Canter 4x4 I will do setting it up as an expedition vehicle at my own pace !

40g for that!!! surely not.
I paid $11300 last feb for a '96 130 with alloy tray 1.8 by 1.8m and 160,000km on the clock.... so the pickles are low kays but an extra 30g could overhaul the 300tdi engine a few times??? And surely that paint job takes a few grand off the price. And the fact 5 are up for sale wont exactly boost the price. Will be interesting to see what they go for?
