Well -- the bank has some how aproved some funding for me to get the new Fender. Still deciding if I can buy a loaf of bread after making the monthly payments.:(
The two offers I have to choose
1. Maroon defender out the box no extras discounted From R349K to R330K
2. White defender Demo with 3000km's by dealer senior sales guy
Extras: Side runners, BFG Muds, Checkerplate Fender Tops and side strips roofrack and ladder, towplate and rear mounted high lift jack, bullbar and spots + sump protector. (R37K worth) Total Cost R340K
Should I get the demo or new without all the stuff.
Any opinions?
Thanks
James

I would buy the demo if the accesories already fitted are what you want.
A demo vehicle is usually well looked after as it is a "show piece" to try and get sales and 3000 kms is not much. Besides, I like the white ones best so I am biased.

Howzit James
Go for the Demo mate, you still get the warranty and any annoying niggles from the factory should hopefully have been sorted out. You're going to want to fit the extras at some point anyway so if you can afford R340K:eek: and don't mind doing without the bread for awhile.......
The last time i was home was to see my parents in 2005, i coudn't believe the cost of cars, and the amount of people driving really flash cars. The banks must be making a small fortune on finance.......

Hi James
Go the demo,if you cant afford a loaf of bread after payments you wont be able to buy all them goodies you just know you want.
3000ks isnt much at all.
GOODLUCK

Don't let the loaf of bread be a deciding factor, you can always dig a hole in the ground and cook up a damper (umm, not the bilstein or koni variety of damper, that may be a bit hard on the teeth )

James, go for the demo .. I reckon you save $10k alone in resell value because it is white. To put it nicely ... a maroon Defender is fugly! ;o)
Incidentally the R340K is $49,500AUD going on todays exchange rate. You are doing very well considering the list of accessories.
Only other consideration ... when was the demo first registered? How many warranty months will you lose compared to a new one?
Any chance of a pic?

Oh I would go the demo before someone else does .. really there is THOUSANDS of dollars of crap bolted onto that.
So with warranty, who cares .. maybe even ask them to restart the warranty on purchase date ..
If it was in Australia, I would be on that quicker than a 15 yr old with a playboy !
PS that tow hitch is HUGE!

Hi Andy
Looks like the series III didn't want to be sold. She threw a plug and lead when I tried to drive her to the dealer.
Besides she still has the AULRO sticker you once mailed to me through in the Black Stump days.
Bank gave aproval with only VW as trade in so looks possible. The wife however has different ideas :(

Once she gets behind the wheel of that new Defender you will need a crowbar to pry her out.
"We traded MY VW in on it so its MY Defender"
I bet South African women are no different than ours:D:D:D:D:D

Yes Andy
Unfortunately she does get the Fender as her daily since we need here polo as deposit. She only does a short trip to the kids school - 1km and then another 2km to the Hospital where she nurses.
Doubt the engine will even get warm.
By the way, I notice you guys sometimes use an abreviation SWMBO or something for the Ladies - can you explain?
Cheers

That tow hitch hangs down a long way - it appears that it severely compromises the departure angle. If it catches on something, it may twist the rear chassis cross member. I've seen this happen with the old style of bar which was fitted to 110 Counties in Australia when people forget to remove the tongue before off-roading.
