Hi Guys
A repeat of the other post now we have the seperate forum.
Please list all your fault codes/vehicle type/symptoms caused.
If we can get a database going of common faults/symptoms we can help others in diagnosing their problems.
With a number of us about to get a Nanocom we should be able to get a fair list of common faults logged I bet.

None.

The only engine ECU codes I've had were due to the previous LPG installer's wiring the car without injector emulators. Since I rewired that section of the car, those faults have been cleared and not returned.

and
P0155

on a 99 Discovery Series II V8 auto
using a Scangauge II OBDII scanner

Caused by brand new aftermarket O2 sensors fitted by an independent LR workshop.

Going to get them to replace these dodgy O2 sensors with LR genuine ones, albeit at $255 each! :(

ecu- topside switch failed pre injection/ingition,

car lost power an then shutdown---- would not start agen, after a wiel i got it started, it would idle fine but if it went over 2500rpm it would intently shutdown, or if you drove it an keped it under 2500 it was fine lik normal for about 1k an then shutdown,

fix-- new ECU,

this is about the worse fault code to get, if you get this its going to get expencive,

other things you will see are open circit on all 5 injectors, , this is all so saying ur ecu is buggerd,

topside switch is 99.99999999% the ECU is buggerd,

hope this helps some one, cos i was asking everywere for info about it an no one had eny, so this is a good start,

ecu- topside switch failed pre injection/ignition,
Would not start, turned over freely, but no start
got this error, then noticed the temperature guage was showing in the red
so naturally would not start!!!, then started, ran ok, then oil warning light came on, idel became rough, then oil light went out, normal idle.
stared next two times, then would not start again, started, then rough idle again and so on
Saw on a forum, clean your earth wireconnection where it joins the chassis and run another earth wire to a seperate part of the chassis, no problems for three months!!!

Yes I Was lucky but I had ordered another ECU because we thought the first was toast so now have a reflashable one that my friend mapped for me and it drives so much better than the old one Cost 250 british pounds, best insurance for that price so now have a spare(which has been used in another TD5 since and worked OK:)

What in the blue blazes is a noisy crack??? :wasntme:

Hi,
While this is not my fault codes, I did find this on the net, and as far as I am aware it is not copyright protected, so I will post it here, without any modification. Hope this helps some people

Hi Grumpy
Its "Noisy Crank Signal"
Mine gets that fault regularly despite replacing the Crank Angle Sensor.
Im told its a "oil in the harness" caused fault that will eventualy cure itself once all the oil is gone.Have you had the oil in the harness fault before???
Replace the Crank Angle Sensor ASAP as if it fails the vehicle WILL NOT RUN.
Keep the one that is still working in the vehicle as a spare, they are quite inexspensive.
Goodluck

Hi andy,
I have two ECU's, std and chipped. This only occured once with the standard ECU. I use the standard around town and the chipped when I tow the two tonne van. I cleared the fault and so far it has not reoccured. Touch wood !!!
I did have some oil in the injector loom. That has been fixed.

Thats interesting Tony.
Ive just changed ECUs to a later Flash tuned, model with a Defender spec upgrade. It is no longer showing the fault on the new ECU.

A combination of P0171, P1171 and P1174 on a 99 Discovery Series II V8 auto. Engine fairly heavy on fuel but runs smooth. Testbook shows fuel trimming difference between left and right banks. Bank 1 running leaner than Bank 2 (bank 1 is passenger side bank)

Reset adaptations and engine immediately begins to run rough. Fit known good MAF and engine is smooth, return to old MAF and engine runs rough again.

Replace old MAF with new MAF and engine is smooth. Reset adaptations a 2nd time, engine still smooth. Fuel trimming between banks now even.

Verdict - old MAF faulty.
