View Full Version : Series 2a Door Trim wanted

I posted this in the S3 section the other day and also in the wanted section of the markets.

I am wanting some of the deluxe door trim off a series 2 / 2a / 3 Land Rover. Mostly this was fitted to the 3 and 5 door station wagons. It was also standard equipment on the civilian forward controls.

What I am interested in are the top 2 panels with the aluminium backing from the front doors and also the lock covers.

The condition of the vinyl is unimportant as it is going to be re covered. So what I am really looking for is the really shabby looking door trim that you wouldn't leave on the car.

Send me a PM if you have any you can part with?

Dave

I said that didn't I?

But not all vehicles in a series had the deluxe trim.

Deluxe trim was standard on station wagons from Series 1 86/107 onward, and became optional on other models at some stage, probably during Series 2a. What it consisted of varied from time to time, but always included the door lining referred to, although the style of this varied. Lock covers were not always fitted, although I think they were on wagons.

Thanks John

My experience has only been with 109 wagons so the lock covers were present.

In the 3 X S2B's I have - none of the original door trim has survived although the tattered remains of the roof lining did remain in 2. I have borrowed a set of trim from someone to take a pattern, but is would be easier to get the rolled aluminium pieces and the arm rests from a damaged set. The standard trim was plain grey, not elephant hide or black like most of the trim in wagons that I have seen.

The Series 3 ute I got had the following (now fitted to my 2a ute):-

Padded headlining, trim from there to the roof/windscreen+door opening +back, and door trim. The rear wall and quarters were not trimmed and there were no armrests or lock covers, although the antiburst locks are neater than the older locks. Door pull handles and sunvisors were fitted.
Have a look at it at Cooma.

I dont know if youre after other bits but I have the upper rear corner trim from a wagon as well as three front headlining sections for a 2A bought by mistake as I thought I had a front, middle and rear.

The front section of the regular roof may be useful, as I'm going to eventually change the camper project to a regular roof merging into the rear camper body. PM me if you are interested.

You should be able to sell the others to people with Series I/IIa/III hard tops. They were sometimes trimmed up front leaving the back bare - like regular panel vans especially the Britt ones.

Master Chief encouraged me to go up to Hilton's at Colo Heights today. He actually has a bit of trim for Series IIIs and Countys. Most of the SIII trim is the later style with 1 piece for the upper and another for the lower where the ones I'm looking for have 2 pieces for the upper part. The SIII type are also a bit different around the door stay and the window locks. I do however now have a pair of arm rests and 2 drivers side top pieces. Unless I can find a passengers side top piece I can reverse and modify a drivers side (not ideal)

So if anyone has the passengers side top trim that is now what I need.

Cheers
