My faithfull little shadow Fluffy, called such due to her outwardly fluffy appearance was let out for her morning buiness, I was half awake making my coffee and I hears her yelping so I stuck me head out the window and here is Scout our stud shihtzu giving her some morning glory, she showed know sign of being in season, the dirty bugger, now daddys little shadow will no doubt be in the pudding club, Fluffy replaced my previous shadow Big Bear another Shihtzu who was eaten by our so called socialised and friendly Staffy Dozer RIP, Fluff really mothered our Shihtzu bitches last litter better then the mum herself so I think she will be a spectacular mum and the pups will be gorgeous and no doubt very fluffy, the dad is a caramel tri colour and fluff is typical pom reddy colour with white points, if she takes and has one or two I will put on a picture or two,

Problem with boxers is they spend their puppy years as delinquents and then spend the remaining years senile :D

But, fun and loving creatures for sure!

We are thinking of a english bull dog or boxer and a pal for him once we move into the new house with a bigger yard..Im worried a boxer might be a bit to full on for him. He's pretty lazy......:D

Every time I see a shihtzu I am reminded of a mate's (may he RIP) wife - she had them.

That's enough to turn me off the things for life.

We love Shihtzus due to there quiet nature, not overly yappy and dont shed, our are crossed with Maltys and a Buchon Frieze, we had a staffy as said who thought he was a Shihtzu they were all raised together as pups, my brother inlaw and avid staffy owner with two rat bag staffys reckoned he had to be socialised by his own kind, this was ok as an 8 week old pup all was ok, soon they were teaching our staffy how to win in a fight the staffy way, take out the leg then rip the throat out, this was how my Shihtzu met his fate, throat torn out, I had no qualms in having the Staffy destroyed, love them to bits but not with other dogs dont care how sooky people think they can be you cant take the Staffy out the Staffy, for us now it just fur balls, I have heard all the jokes about fluffy dogs being used as chew toys and a poodle killed my shepherd by getting stuck in its throat, what can I say I love my little ankle biters, Boxers are brilliant dogs love the brindles, Kelpies are fine if you excercise them, some of them are just plain nuts, I mean sillier then a wheel, and fixations with tennis balls!

Any dog who is raised properly acts accordingly. As for mad? My Kelpie is fine, she will play if required and she has a beautiful nature. She's a tad scared of 4wding but she loves drives in the car, runs on the beach, warm baths and cuddles from the kids. Like all Kelpies she's an instinctively a working dog and has natural urge to herd things like horses, sheep, the kids rabbits and the wifes cats.

I'm a fox terrier person myself. They are not to many peoples likings due to all their quirks and never being able to read them like all other dogs I or others I have known have had but they are a wonderful creature and challenge you until you can't take it any more and then they just seem to settle. They are about as smart as they come and everyone thinks they bark to much but I've never had one liek that or met one like that.

They are gorgeous looking too and last night I found my 12 week old one had stolen the older ones mouse that she had just caught. She had been after the mouse for about 3-4 days now and she waited hours on end near its hole until it popped out.

The bog hole didn't do it, his right foot wrecked the diff, but I think that may be the bog hole, there were a lot.

Hi Dullbird
I dont agree with tail docking either but TOTALLY understand where it comes from
We used to breed Golden Retrievers and train them for Trials work,ie simulated duck shooting. They were actually much better at the real thing than the game unfortunately!!!
Back to tails.
The tail is a part of the spine, ours and other long tail breed gun dog owners frequentley couldnt compete due to what we used to call "SICK TAIL"
The poor dogs managed to somehow injure their tail, what should be an uprite waggy tail became a drag along. The dogs were VERY uncomfortable with it,obviously very painfull, not to mention disgracing themselves toiletery wise.THEY DONT LIKE SOILING THE FUR!!!!
It lead to weeks/months off their "WORK" that they loved(They are bred for it) till it came good.
I would say these tail docked breeds were extremely prone to tail injuries in their proffesion so were automatically docked to prevent it.
Yes its cruel, but as I say I can see where it originates and was done for the dog not its appearance.

hi andy
I have to say I feel quite insulted by your post. My comments where not about the tail docking in question but the way it was said. In a manor that people may take offence to. I have 2 boxers with docked tails and my last boxer had a docked tail also, coming from the uk i see slot of dogs that are docked especially the working breeds. and in my profession I also see some horrific home jobs. I personally prefer docked tails but it doesn't mean I support it.
i also deal with the docking issue on a day to day basis so I don't need a lecture on the why's and why nots of docking and its origins.

Sorry I'm a bit tired and a little cranky, its just boxers are not working dogs like labs and springers and for a boxer it is cosmetic. So saying some one and there crap brought the docking ban in IMHO is wrong the law was brought in to protect animals and trust me these animals need protecting.
