I have the old 93 Disco and i just put in a spacer to fit 6.5 inch speakers in the rear. All i had to do was drill a few new holes in the steel part and screw it in.Sound so much better.Hope this helps.

I'm about to get 4 x 4" alpine speakers and alpine head unit . A cheap 4" speaker sounds crappy and if you spend good cash on a good brand ...pioneer , Kenwood , sony and a couple of others you can get some great sound . It's not always the size of the speaker that brings the best sound . And if you want bass ,buy a small sub in a box with amp attached as they are easy to remove if loading it up with camping gear ..... just my thoughts anyways :).

I finally got around to putting in the speakers today and I have gone for the Pioneer 6" speakers all round.

The rear I had to remove the 4" speaker brackets by drilling out the rivits then shaving out the 4" holes on the pillar panels to fit the 6" speakers in then screwed them down onto the pillar panel then remount and bob's your uncle a pair of new 6" rear pillar speakers.

For the front well that was a little harder but was made easy by purchasing 6" speaker spacers as the 4" are sitting in spacers to begin with and also I was not able to screw one screw and it didn't matter as it is secured by the door handel.

I would advice either you purchase new clips for the pillar panels or use a single not too long screw to make sure the pillar panels remain on.
