I new interweb site I noticed today:
Home - 4x4 Earth Australia (http://www.4x4earth.com.au/)
They use google mapping to create a database of tracks that you can add to.
(I added the Farnborough Beach entry track in)
While the site is only new and doesn't have all that many tracks (especialy in NQ), I imagine if more people start using it it will grow pretty rapidly.
Note. I have NO affiliation with the site.

I saw that recently, not a bad idea if it grows a bit!

Bloody top idea, obviously theres HEAPS of tracks missing, particularly in Tasmania. But if it kicks off, it would make a sweet 4x4 reference.

It will also turn a "well kept secret" into a highway :D
I won't be posting some of the little spots I know on the internet...I want them to remain little known

I use something else which is an open source map of roads and includes some tracks. People sign up like any forum and you use your gps to map all roads and then you label them with streets, bridges, etc... like a normal steet directory and it's becoming quite big now.

I totally agree, I've seen too many tracks destroyed after they become common knowledge

Lots of sceptical people out there.
Remember MOST people are responsible (especially most fellow 4x4ers), its just that occasionally you get a dickhead or two, but don't let them wreck it for everyone.
If that happens the terrorists have already won, or possibly if every second sentence ends with "If that happens the terrorists have already won" then the terrorists have already won.
But back to my original point, I for one will at least give it a go. While some of my local tracks might get a bit more traffic (more people to pull me out when I do something silly), hopefully I will gain a couple of local tracks and secret spots that I never knew about.
P.S. Any more hints from Xavier as to what he is using?
