Hi Tim,

Make sure that there's no coolant leaks. If the cooling system is faulty, it could lead to cylinder liner slip, which means bye bye block.

So have a look at the coolant bottle for clues. It shouldn't appear low. It should be nice and pink.

Expect around 18-19 litres per 100 kms around town and the Rover V8 prefers at least 95 octane premium unleaded.

Check that the transmission shifts smoothly too.

Tim,

what model D2 is it? is it an Auto, ES, SE7, leather, sunroof 6-7th seats, ACE etc. Sounds at the highish side for a early 2001 base model, althought the low k's makes a big difference, but if its got all or some of the other bling that makes it different.

As an example:

Early 2001 (not the Nov 2001 release)
Base model 5sp manual ($47,280 New) with ave klm (110k-180k) ave private sale price today is between $11,800 and $13,800

Same yr ES model ($68,570 New) ave private sale price today between $18,100 and $20,500

figures quoted from Redbook.

Either way, Its obviously bought for some fun and R&R not as an investment. So any car is really worth what ever the buyer pays. :D

And what ever the price, if he fits a winch, lift kit, A/T or M/T tyres, snorkel, the original price is irrelevant. ;);)
