Iveco LMV: Dangerous World - Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.jhtml?xml=/motoring/2008/02/16/nosplit/mflmv116.xml)

Very quickly:
British Army Land Rovers remain popular as speedy, manoeverable vehicles that can project a lot of firepower. But they offer limited protection for the personnel within...
The possible replacement is this beast: a 7.1t IVECO LMV.
At GBP150,000 for the basic, unarmoured one, I doubt I'll have one in the near future...

The tendency is to replace unarmoured Landrovers with armoured vehicles, but it is unclear whether all Landrovers will be replaced (anywhere) with armoured vehicles. Quite apart from the cost question, there are situations even in the front line where armoured vehicles cannot be used because they are too big and heavy (e.g. my nephew who has just returned from Iraq has some enlightening pictures of thoroughly bogged bushmasters) and there will always remain many jobs away from the front line where more or less off the shelf civilian vehicles (which is what military Landrovers are) will be the best option.
