Tyre Pressures?

Hi Guys,

just put new tyres on the freelander, came back from Bob Janes with 40 psi!!

seems a bit high to me, sticker inside the door says to use 26 unloaded & 30 loaded.

last time I checked the old tyres they had a bit over 30 in them, just after it was serviced by landrover.

anybody know the correct pressure?

tyres are 195 80 r15

I have found around 32 to be a good compromise - 26 is too mushy.

I agree with garrycol. 26 will result in poor tyre life due to shoulder wear. 40 is probably too much, the ride will suffer and there is a real possibility of tyre damage. 32 should be about right.

Remeber its a light car with a similar footprint to other heavier vehicles. I use ~33 or so and never a worry. I dont even need to let it down on sand. assuming the engine works...

i know this is an old thread but i checked my tyers today as the handeling was no better than a rowboat in a choppie sea the tyers fitted to my freebie are actually light truck tyers and yes they are off road tyers they also had 28 psi in them sio i read the tyer and with a full load reccomended pressure is 50 psi so up to 44 psi handeling improved rides not much different and should use less fuel also the manafactuers web site also confirmed the pressuers i am running
same in the work ute 44 psi lifht truck tyers
