Has anyone got a clever idea about how to stop a bunch of keys rattling against the dashboard while I'm driving.
I thought of a strong magnet on the dash to hold them but keys aren't magnetic ...:angel::angel:
any ideas???

Fit the extra rattling keys on a small snaplock and put in pocket whist driving and just snap lock to ignition key when leaving the vehicle!

Velcro strap that wraps around the keys and sticks to the dash ;)

Take off any extra keys you dont need. I only have car and house keys. The rest are in the cup holder.

What I was going to say.
I have three sets of keys.
Disco keys
House keys
Work keys.
I only take what I need when I go out. Not only does it stop the keys rattling but if you lose one set then you don't lose them all.
Why take the car keys if you aren't taking the car for example?

^^Me too.
I just have a single key for the car with a bit of hootchie string on it. Got into the habit with the bikes because you don't want a bundle of keys rattling around on the headstock. Besides all the weight of a big bunch of keys is what destroys ignition tumblers.
Try it, you'll adapt pretty quick.

I always unwind the ignition key when off-roading off the main ring,I dont like the noise either.
Snap hook,top idea,I MUST DOO !!!!!
Too many keys cause extra weight and chew the lock out, big$$$ to fix.

Happened to me a couple of years ago. Very costly & inconvenient! Now only have the Rover key. (Not that you'd notice keys rattling anyway) ;)

I use one of the cheap aluminium 2" carabina's that you hook onto the belt hoop of your trousers.
When I'm driving I can simply unhook the single key from the rest and I don't have a large swinging bunch of keys scratching the plastics around the ignition.

I have one of those! - made it when I was 10!
It works very well thank you, stops keys from rattling & from jabbing you in the leg when keys are in your pocket.

Thanks guys for all the ideas - I'm glad it's not just me that's had fun with this.
I might try a snap clip or something - it's driving me mad. btw - it is a diesel and I have a LOUD stereo but it's just not enough .....
I expect the blutack would go sticky in my pocket when I wasn't driving ....

That's what I do. Makes it easier to carry around if you don't need all the keys.
It'll never bang about on your dash and you won't bugger your ignition barrel or lock.

Parramatta Leaques club badge and you live in Brisbane??
The Dooleys badge also ads extra weight :)
No small wonder you ditch that lot, the weight would bugger the ignition barrel. :D

Been a member of the leagues club and the "football" club (member #14:D) for exactly half my life later this month.
Dooleys - best boozer in Australia.
Tragedy is an over used word. The Somme and the Tsunami were tragedies....Tom selling Dooleys was much worse :spudnikcry::dbcry::dbcry:

nothing wrong with them laddie..... they came along just after the wide leather watch bands of the sixties. :p Then when we grew up and started getting work we realised we needed more than one key, and the car key didn't have all that plastic wrapped around it, and we had work keys, padlock keys, roof rack keys ... so we had to give up on the leather pouch syle.
A truly Australian version would be the leather kangaroo scrotum keyholder... (a bit like the little money pouches you can get...) I reckon they'd sell for Toorak tractor owners.
And yes we painted our fences mission brown back then too.:D;)

try this.. accesory from TOUGH casual wear. come in leatehr or aluminium.
my one is made of leather and can store up 6~10 keys in it, depands on the thickness of your keys.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/03/604.jpg
pull out only the key you need and the rest stay inside
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/03/605.jpg
put in all the keys when not using, safe to keep in your pocket as well.

Driving with more than the ignition key is bad practise. the extra weight wears the barrel quicker than it should....
just have the ignition key on a key tag...

I agree with this as well....:D
I have the remote for the central lock and the ign key and the rest has a snap lock so when I get in the car 90% of the time I separate the keys on my way to the car and put the rest on the consul.
This is also good when I open up in the morning as I can leave the car running and go open the gate.
