Hey All

Well I have managed to stuff up my alternator (I blame Toolangi mud) and my air conditioning compressor is also giving up the ghost. I have had a price of $470 for a reco alternator fitted and don’t have a price for the air compressor. I was wondering if others have had these replaced and what sort of price they paid?

Cheers

I recently replaced my alternator and was told by LR that they don't like being reco'd. They said that they have tried it and the vehicle kept coming back for additional work. In the end it sounds like they gave up and replaced with a new one.

The alternator is an expensive item to replace and LR also supply a new vacuum pump so it is a complete item.

There is a used alternator in the markets section.

Cheers.

ERR6299 Alternator $708 plus fitting.

Don't even bother with a reco one, it will cause nothing but trouble.

Because they just don't take well to reconditioning. The first and last one that we had done was more expensive than a new one and ended up being thrown away .

The new alternator has a new vacuum pump (no oil leaks) and is just realistically the only way to go.
