Can anyone give me an idea of driving time/distance from Broken Hill to Adelaide airport please?

What is a good web site for working out distances and driving times in Australia?

Anyone have web sites for secure parking at Adelaide airport please?

Regards

Brendan

That trip would be about 4 - 4.5 hours depending on the trafic around Adelaide. You can check out whereis.com - Unsupported browser (http://www.whereis.com.au) for more info.
The Airport has some long term parking but its expensive.

Cheers and hope that helps.

From centre of Broken Hill to Adelaide Airport is 514 km according to Natmap. Given that you have to get through Gawler and Adelaide traffic, plus a few smaller towns with 60 km/hr speed limits, I think I'd be allowing a bit more than 4.5 hours.

It's a long time since I drove between Adelaide & Broken Hill, but I seem to remember it being about a 6 hour trip.

While I now live in Nowra, I grew up in the 'Hill, and thats a trip I've done more times than I care to remember. Allow for about 6 hours, its just over 500km, but sheep, roadworks, road trains, the fruitfly stop and multiple small towns will all slow you down. Better to arrive early than late.

That's more like it:)

Pretty rare to be able to average 120kph to be able to do it in 4 to 4.5 hours.

I would probably allow seven hours to get to the airport, then not be stressed about trying to keep an unrealistic schedule, particularly as your location shows you being a visitor to Australia.
Driving here is different to driving in the UK.
As noted, it is better to be early than late. It is also better to be late than not arrive at all!

With regards to secure parking. What do you need to park, when are you parking it and for how long?

Hi Brendan,

You asked about a travel planner for Aus and I use Travelmate occasionally at Travelmate - Australia Accommodation and Hotels, Tours, Car Hire, Maps, Australian Travel Guide (http://www.travelmate.com.au/Home/Home.asp?TM_Page=Home) which is not too bad at estimating fairly realistic times.

It gives a time from Argent St, Broken Hill to Sir Donald Bradman Dr of 5:53 which would assume you get a straight forward run with no major hold-ups. If you're catching a plane, as I assume you are, I'd put an hour onto that for a safe margin.

Here's a link to secure parking at Adelaide airport and you can book on-line Airport Security Parking (http://www.asparking.com.au/) - I haven't used it myself though as I usually get a cab to the airport. Their rates begin at $34 for 1 to 2 days parking then go up from there.

If you need any help please feel free to PM me.

Gee, that would be pretty close to the 7 hours I suggested :p:p.

Further, don't forget to allow extra time for "refreshment" breaks.

Best Wishes,
