Well, yes and no...

Went out tonight and test drove a '99 Wrangler (almost identical to my old one!).

2 ROCKS needs a friend and I miss open top driving! :)

But we'll have to see when we talk $$$$...I think it's a match made in heaven! ;)

Agree .. but I'll go one step further now that the 4 door Jeep has been released ... If it wasn't for Defenders, I would be driving a Wrangler! ;)

My club ran the 4wd demo take at the orange National Field days last year and all where impressed with the articulation of the 4 door wrangler but the ramp over angle isn't much better that a falcon!!:(

Yeah, from an article in Overlander the wheelbase is longer than a 100 Series!

I do like Jeep's commitment to the offroad scene with the Rubicon version and options on the Sport. The Rubicon includes low-range reduction gears, lower axle ratios, remote disconnecting swaybars and front/rear lockers. Too bad they don't do the Rubi in a diesel.

Will be nice if Land Rover can do a special edition D90 with similar gear.

Cheer folks!

Have decided and I'm picking it up tomorrow. Red '99 with 120ks on the clock.

Needs new rubber and a new top but that's okay - who needs the top - er till about May...:o

I remember when I posted on ausjeep that I had "lost" my other Wrangler, but had bought the Disco, I got general support for buying the D2 and was welcome on any of their trips!

I think one of the posts said something like "go for it, the real 4WDs and the black sheep need to stick together."

So it's nice to there's some mutual respect outside the Japanese camps.
Post a pic when I get a chance!

Great looking Jeep, i like the colour, Are you selling the D2 or keeping it to tackle the harder tracks:p:p

Lol!!!:D

Phil, definately not - 2 Rocks is staying, waited a long time to get a "truck" like that again!

The Jeep's for high days and holidays, the trip to work when the weather's good and some fun in the dunes at Lancelin.

I'm not going to turn it into a rock-crawler, just a lift, a UHF and maybe a more practical front bar.

Anyway the Jeep has a range of about 400kms with a following wind! So pretty much trail rides only. ;)

Fair go! At least a Falcon RTV :D

Yes the belly-pan for the gearbox is generally referred to as "the shovel"! And the reason there's so many options for big lifts, big tyres and new gearing to suit.

The blingy side steps mine's wearing wouldn't help either. But they do stop me spilling my macchiato when I get in...

I don't reckon you will get too many slings and arrows driving that beauty.;);)

I'd have it in my driveway any day of the week.:)

Looks fantastic and the fuel use couldn't be any worse than the V8 Disco I commute in.

Although you might have less options of a place to put an LPG tank. Passenger footwell maybe ;)

I looked at getting one briefly but being that it would have been my only car I thought it was a little impractical.

Cheers Barra1!

I love my Disco to bits and will be a long time before I sell it - but always had a soft spot for the Wrangler. Would have liked to have gotten a YJ (earlier, square headlamps), for sheer bloody-mindedness as lots of people don't like them! :p

Utemad - you're right - trips to the servo are about the same as my D1 used to be :) or they were in the one I had before. The Wrangler actually weighs more than the old, square XJ Cherokee wagons.

There's a mob that make a 4-tank LPG system goes in the luggage (haha) area and under the rear seat.

Sounds like the 3 tank on the floor setup I have in the Disco.

Have fun with it

A guy in the Vic LROCV has just sold his 02 Fender to buy a 4 door Renegade....

Mind you he is a Yank, so i guess that is patriotic....

Best i go out and get my Gov grant for a new Cruiser...:D

Simon, and not as red as the owner of the red one was when I rang him and said "...er, I'm not coming round with a wad of cash for you. This one's nicer and cheaper by a grand..."

Poor bugger, I did feel for him, but... ;)

Clarkie
4 door Renegade or...Rubicon?? Think the Renegade "brand" is dead. Rubi comes with diff locks and swaybar disconnects.

Have to admit, at $34k + ORC for a new CRD 4 door what else can you buy for that price new? Terracan, Sorrento? Both with IFS...if I had that sort of money, hmmm.

A new Cruiser? Just buy a Kluger and pump it up a bit at the local servo. :p
