Hi Guys;
I've had my vehicle in ATV now for 2 weeks which is getting Kings Springs and Bilstein Shocks Fitted however there is delays with Suppliers of King Springs and I think I heard the After Market 4wd accessory distributor National distributors has gone Bust , has anyone heard this?

Looks like the vehicle is going to stay there for a few more days until they source the Coil springs.:(

Isn't that the company that was on the news?
Owned Auto1 or AutoPro stores or something like that too.

Yep, National Parts.

YEP

went belly up in the last few days

supplied about 60% of the after market parts throughout oz, many of their suppliers unlikely to get paid

expect parts price increases across the board to compensate

local distributors madly scrambling to re-source affected items

some of you will be aware that many parts fitted & charged to the consumer as "genuine" by franchise dealer workshops are sourced at lower prices through this market

This mob at Penrith/Kingswood or something should be good???

Welcome to Wholesale Suspenion, King Springs Sydney! (http://www.wholesalesuspension.com.au/index.html)

I used to use them and I was happy

Hi Simon;

I suspect ATV has tried sourcing the King's Coils Spring from this Mob in Penrith " Wholesale Suspension" but they may be out of stock, now I may be mistaken but National are the suppliers for these guys.

That is very sad - AutoPro in Nowra are the wholesaler for most of the grease monkeys in the district! They are also the most reliable of all the local auto parts retailers.

I wonder what the AutoPro franchisees will do - a Co-op or something maybe - hopefully!

Ahhh, thats a bugger. I wonder if they can go direct? Perhaps they've tried or thats what they're doing.

I used to deal directly with Kings (IIRC talking to one of the King boys) getting custom spec coils wound, but that was 15 years ago and they are a lot bigger now.

Hi Frank

Thanks for your reply , Just got a call from Frank at ATV , says they sourced the Coil Springs from another supplier and are in Process of fitting them to the car , now with regards to Lovells ,They ( ATV ) used to install them for their customer's but they had an issue with Lovells sagging in a relativelly short period , I'm Told they are made in Brazil and quality has gone down Hill with Lovell's Steel in their Coils , so I was advised to stay Clear of Lovell Springs.

Sounds like someone has been pizzing in your pocket mate as the lovells spring plant is here in newcastle and all the coils are made here in house not over seas ......

Theres lots of speculation on springs tho i find lovels to be as good as kings if not beta as i have kings in my rangie and they have saged about 1 in per year there just about stuffed now tho the lovels i fitted to a mates rangie havent droped at all and they have been in for just over 12months so il be goin lovells or dobbins next :D:D:D:D

Thanks for your replies , Lokka I was only advised of Lovell Spring sagging and not knowing any better I went with Kings , Lovells used to be down the road from ATV at Strathfield and they rekon had a few issues with them which is why they stopped fitting them to their vehicles, Had i been advised otherwise I would have gone with Lovells , either way I'm after a set of Springs that don't sag after 2 years or so of 4wding.

OME's started sagging severly , cheap quality steel I guess?

RoverNT good to hear from you again mate , missed out on a good trip to mount walker. but I guess you've been there before with max and simon.

Lokka you're probably right , someone is ****ing in my pockets , mate I don't know any batter , that's why i listen to people whom I think are in the know how and they use these products on their customer's vehicles everyday so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt , There was a Discovery 3 with King springs absolutely trashed on a Hoist in the Shop and the owner been around everywhere with it , and the Kings had not sagged one bit, that's what I was impressed with . Kings are a Good spring don't get me wrong ,and Lovells are now giving 5 years warranty on their Coils etc , decision making process was purely based on what was recommended to me.

Don't worry about kings sagging mate, they wouldn't have a life time warranty if they sagged with out reason

Slunnies Lovells have sagged from punishmeant no dout, and you would be hard pressed to find springs that wont sooner or later unfortunately my front springs havent sagged

if your going only 2 inch why aren't you going OME there the best for general lift I reckon

No I haven't been to Mt Walker unfortunately or I have and cant remember and never with Max and Simon again unfortunately

I have to fix my X member as its been acting as my spring retainer for the last couple of months and now that I placed caster correction bush the cross member wont fit so it needs to be cut and shut and front top retainers need to be made up as I have done with the back even touring with the idea of 3 inch spring anyway another story

Had an OME 2" inch lift already and shocks were leaking in the front and their spring sagged on the rear so I thought instead of going with OME 2 " inch again I'd give Kings and Billies a Go , what ever works best... money wise I would spend the dollars if I knew I'd get a really good set up and ride from the Spring+Shocks Combination.

Horses for Courses , My mate runs Iron Man Springs on his Pootrol and he is really happy with them , My Point is if something out there works really well and last a while I'd stick with it , and OME has served it's time and now it's time to move on.

Top end dollar wise will be Billies and Lovells combo where as Rick from BBM swear by tough dogs springs and shock combo on his Rangie, and dont know if there is a better or worse however with billies there rebiuldable at about $300 a pair you can almost buy brand new ones there always procomp to at the price of my shocks I could of bought 10 pairs :D:D:D:D

No mate I've got Dobinson and billies but My front spring rates are great but to high where as the back rate is crap and a good hight my shock rates suck all round the rear needs to be fitted to the front and old front revalved maybe or all revalved

so shock wise other then hiem joints and shocks being to soft there excellent spring wise front is 15mm or so higher then the rear so my one needs a bit of sorting but that's the fun part ah

I'm thinking of getting a new set of springs from the USA, Dobinson was to make me a new set for the rear springs spoke to them last month advised there where on the next shipment due any day and then offcourse nothing and one moth later heard nothing perhaps its the floods and what not

if you wanted my opinion I don't think Billies are any better then OME and for the money spent on 5100 series I would prefere maybe OEM if you where talking 6100 7100 series different story

I would go with OME springs and shocks again if your doing 2 inch lift

again spring wise go visit the place where you want springs from like Lovells and talk to them face to face tell them your needs and what you have and they will work out something I felt that dobinson lack in this expertise and so do kings for that mater I wanted to tell the spring mob that I have a front and rear steel bar draws winch and carry a crap load of goods what do I need but found that both Dobinson and King didnt know infact if I get another set of springs Im going to load the car to crap house to indicate what I will carry in weight and go to a weigh bridge and provide that info to them

Hi I have OME shocks and had 779 OME front springs which rode very nice. (rear airbags with lift kit).

The OME springs sagged with winch, bar and dual batt so I have changed for Lovells.

Straight away they felt stiffer I was told 230lb instead of OME 180lb. Cost was not much I pad just under $200 for the lovells delivered to Tasmania from a local lovell distributor.

I am very happy with the lovells I even took out my 3 off 6mm coil spring spacers I had under my 779 OME springs when they sagged.

They are both in the market section for sale.

Cheers

My lovells springs have sagged dramatically in less than 6 months. All 4 corners have sagged in excess of 20mm static height. I will say that they have been good to deal with over the phone about a warranty claim, but have to try and source some springs that will suit my requirements before returning them. It doesn't help being thousands of km's from your nearest dealers. I was told that any more than 10mm drop in free length was seen as a spring failure, my RH rear has sagged by 45mm free length, front RH by 20mm. My vehicle has not been abused off road or on since I have installed these springs.
