View Full Version : Wiper switch for Defender ?

My new Defender has an "issue" with the wipers.

Initially it had slow, nothing in the fast position, and also no intermittent.

Now after jiggling etc it has slow, fast but still no intermittent.

Seems to me (and MR Auto seem to agree) that it's probably the switch.

Ok so (bracing myself) does anyone know how much a new wiper switch for a Defender costs ?

and, in the event that the above answer scares the **** out of me:

Is there a cheap place to get one ?
What about possibility of 2nd hand ones ?

There is 2 types for the defender depending on your chassis number from the UK they are 40 or 70 pounds ( I could get you one when I go ) but I am pretty sure you can source them in Australia from British Parts in Victoria

Weeds that will make the other ute harder to sell.

Anyway I finally got it fixed under warranty - there was a short etc in the system (apparently whoever did the original instal was a biut of a butcher) which shared the pwoer circuit with the air con ? Anyway this probably helped reduce the cost to me of fixing the air con which they had to pull out anyway to get to the other thing, so now a new thermostat (the cheaper after market one of course ! I wasnt about to pay $600+ for a real one) and I have workling wipers AND air con. Me happy. :D
