After a few hiccups and about 2.5 years, we just ordered the camper! What a relief to finally get it underway. We got a full body galv unit, sleeps 4 and got all the extra annexe kitchen walls etc.
Off to the Kimberleys hopefully ion May/ June for its maiden voyage!!

Congratulations JC,
Great feeling isn't it:D I ordered a new camper trailer (Pioneer Argyle) in January, and hopefully will take delivery the week before Easter.
Big drive the Kimberly's, especially from where you are:)

Sure is a great feeling, but ever mindful of the repayments...Not all that bad considering the sale of the LS400 will leave a sizeable chunk of monthly payments available now for the camper. In one way, out the other...:(
Adrian, We will be going up your way next year, as we planned this NW trip to coincide with visiting a friend of ours in Kunnunurra who's other half has a job/ contract up there for only the rest of this year...plus his 110 needs a cambelt and a major service right about the time we are there...
Pics will be available when we pick it up. This model dosen't appear on their website as it is a special order full body version of their family sized soft floor camper. We hired one on our trip to the eastern gulf and Lawn Hill etc and was impressed with its simplicity and strength.

Very nice trailers. We were in there looking at them and talking to the guys at Cape York Trailers, Cairns last Friday. Very helpful bunch and they are a good quality build for the price. CYT was on our shortlist but having spent last week going through everything we're pretty well settled on a Kimberley Kamper.
Now I have to spend the next 4 months setting the Disco up for touring and towing :)

You should be happy with a CYT trailer. The company I work for has several CYT trailers. No tent or accessories, just the trailer with a lid. We carry tools, cable and camping gear in them. Most of them cover about 30,000 to 40,000 Km per year. About half of this is over unsealed roads, property tracks and some off road. After four years they have had no major problems.

We were impressed by the robustness and simple design of them mostly. We took our rental one into some pretty rough and remote places west of The Isa and Cloncurry, and at high speeds through bulldust and corrugations north from Cammooweal and it handled it with ease. Went everywhere the Rangie went, no questions.
That is the best way to buy a trailer. Rent one for 4 weeks and that'll show up any flaws I can tell you! We found none at all.:D:D

The one I'm getting has HILUX() leaf spring packs and Shocks.
I know what you're thinking:o, but I want to be able to buy bits like main leaves and shackle bushes etc ANYWHERE at ANYTIME.
Plenty of rolled 'luxes out there, already upside down so it makes spring removal easy peasy!!!:D:D:p:p:p
They make exciting looking independent susp models etc but I went KISS with mine.:)

Progress report.
Construction is going well. We are booked to go to Melb to pick it up 9th May.:)
I also ordered a Barrett 2050 HF radio, that'll be here in about a week apparently:cool:
Great value, the traveller pack comes with autotune antenna, remote head unit and all installation wiring etc for a self install, and 1 years membership etc to VKS737 network.:D
$3289 including GST, plus freight from WA to here. The tech/ sales guy I spoke to at Barrett is a LR owner:cool:, just ordered a D3 apparently!:)
Can't wait to get on the track. We have changed our trip itinerary somewhat, now just travelling to Cairns and Cape Trib, Via Stevo62's joint in Townsville. On the way home we are meeting up with friends at Birdsville for a few days, before they tackle the Simpson and Hay River.
