Would like some for my Defender as my plastic ones are getting old and a little cracked... but so far have been unsuccessful in finding any local suppliers.

M.R. auto at Redcliffe have said they are getting some made up but are unsure as to when they will be available....

Couldnt you just buy the in the UK and get them shipped over? I get stuff sent over quite a lot. They dont weigh much so it wouldnt be that expensive.

Cheers

What is the advantage of those apart from looking good? I've only ever seen one.

At least in theory, the scoop uses ram effect to increase the air going through the heater. I suspect that in fact the intake is pretty much in a dead zone - compare, for example, the way water accumulates on the bonnet in rain (when driving) level with this, rather than being blown off. I would think the scoop needs to be several inches high to have much effect.

actually, I think they were designed to stop snow filling the intake and blocking it up.

Nah

On the passenger side was to make the heaters work better as it rams air into it and on the drivers side was to force air into the engine bay to keep it cool

This is the snow cover one

Thanks. Sounds like a cheap way of dealing with my lack of a heater fan.

I was recently at Troutbeck workshop/residence getting side steps. We were discussing the air ram, he said he was going to be making some soon. The ones that he makes include provision for a "shut off" gate to stop water coming in

Can you get me some decent pork pies as well, I have found I can get Branston Pickle - but not decent prok pies. Even Marks and Sparks would do, but Pork Farms are better

Glen, these would be easy to make. Jigsaw them out of a piece of aluminium sheet, then mark out and drill. clamp the two pieces together for drilling. All you need is a jigsaw with appropriate blade, marking out tools and a drill press and clamps. City Council traffic signs are a handy source of aluminium sheet, particularly those ones at roundabouts and on traffic calming (jamming?) devices that are always being knocked over and left for months.

Bugger, now I'm going to have to walk down to the shops in the rain. Can't remember the name of the company that makes the pork pies, but rather nice.

They don't have that huge rind of fat that I remember from when I was a kid, if that's your pleasure.

EDIT: or I could just look it up on the internet.
Welcome to Patchett's Pies (http://www.patchettspies.com.au/index.htm)

Mmmm.

Cheers
