Well here we have a well worn in disco, 226.oooklms, we put Tojo centres, lux CV's and Air lockers in with 4.1's some time ago, now its time for a little more horsepower:D Motor is heading to PSI250:)

remember no rush alot of beer MUST be consumed while doing this, plus me head was mush from being up since 1700 the day before:D
So take 1 adaptor plate I had and a 350chev that just happened to be lying around to, order a crankshaft aqdaptor from Marks, now today I'm finally awake, didn't get to bed till 2345 last night, I'll head to town and get the appropriate capheads and machine up a dolly to get the ****ing spigot adaptor out, spent 3 hours, grease -dolly -belt -belt, grease -dolly belt -belt and the faucking thing just wouldn't move, so i'll try a tighter dolly if that doesn't work it'll be the drill and die grinder:(
I'll take more pics today

Sure is a ZF, yea original kays to, the car looks rough but its pretty well maintained, just never washed and the 350 is only a crate motor with a boat cam, still better than a rover motor but:angel:

Instead of packing grease into the spigot bearing in the flywheel to push it out, replace grease with wet toilet paper, has worked every time for me, you will need some upgraded springs, that Chev boat (anchor) motor is abot 100kgs heavier than the Rover, Regards Frank.

Interesting thread. Curious to see how it all goes.
Just to clarify, driveline wise you've got landcruiser centres, hilux cvs and the rest is std rover gear or have you got Maxi axles etc. Rover hubs? Is the 350 a ULP motor? EFI or carbs?

Well the spigot adaptor is out:eek: total time........probably 6 bloody hours, how did we finally do it after I turned up a decent shaft more grease and bash, then steering wheel puller and harmonic balance puller
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/02/17.jpg
Nothing a MIG can't fix:D
Lesson 2, whenever you pull the bellhousing of a ZF, don't knock the front housing and pump off, it takes another 1.5hrs to line it up and refit it, try lining 2 sets of clutches up and a splined section, I was about to throw my first violent wobbly in near 6 years after that:eek:
Productive day? well, I'm where I'd of liked to have been yesterday:mad:

Sorry Frank I didn't see your post before hand, will keep it mind, although grease has always worked for me, The reason it didn't work though, is it only acting on a 3mm surface inside there, trying to push out near 2"s of contact area:)

Ive always thought you had to get a engineers cert to keep it registered and insured??

Matt, i agree, your not responcable for the Engineer's report, But as your doing the work, your responcible for the quality of the work. If you do it right then its not a problem, but if its done wrong then there could be a reflection on you if someting went wrong.
All i was pointing out was that there is a moral obligation for him to have an engineers cert done on the job.
I'm not whining, i'm pointing out the obvious.
I've been watching this thread as i find it interesting, but you also said that your not going into detail as there was no one interested (7th March post)

No quarms with my quality of work;), like a said, I wont go into extreme case of legality as it isn't quite so clean cut, I'm well aware of the risks and the repecussions involved:D

All seems well, just the fan wants moving back a little and its gutless:D

Got a recoed then pulled of for a holley, quady coming to work tomorrow for 100 beer tickets, then I can get some timing in it without raising the idle to much (because bytteflys wont clos) and set it up to run fuel before we head bush this weekend:eek:,
troubles? well it wouldn't start without leaking vac, stop the leak and no go?? well it konked out pulling up with the 3.9 on gas, so just switched to fuel then yanked so didn't think into it, pulled the mixer apart and the little regulating bit on the diaphragm had dropped off:mad:, stick it back together and all is well, everything except the tach is all good and no shakes/rattles/knocks, and thank god the auto works fine after dropping the pump off:)
So carby and low pressure pump in, tomorrow night after work, then I'll tune it wednesday before night shift and we're done:D

Well the Jag is done, aside form a new speedo and tacho being built:)
Th Disco should be out next week after a new exhaust, will get extended bump stops, tacho working, need to set base timing and check mechanical advance, runs out of puff on both fuels, even if you advance it heaps and then it'll get a dyno tune and hopefully its all aces from there:eek:
Buy the way, just for the people who cry about wieght difference, I asked , so how's it drive?.........The same why?;)
Any pics of the Jag. (err engine bay):D

All this talk of engine conversions is giving me bad ideas. STOP IT!
I've already sussed out that a VS/VT (pref VT) 5.0L will slot in easily and provide that little extra go with very little effort and improved economy.

Probably should have updated this, it got run on the dyno and the 225 mixer wouldn;t cut the mustard, so is now fitted with a 300A high flow, made 98KW at the bags and good strong tractive effort
Also mate bought a $90 starter of ebay, thats half the size and along with rangie bumstops it clears well, so all is well
Old mate took his Jag before I left for Tas and hasn;t called so must be happy:D

I know where a VQ 5l stato is for 2k, still being driven, I may even know someone who can arrange fitting:angel:

hey Rovercare, sorry to bring this old thread up again, but what engine mounts did you use? Did you have have to cut off the old ones and weld in new mounts?
