Ajusting Caravan hand brake / Park brake?

Hi All,
It seems that the camper trailer/caravan section is now gone, so I will ask here instead......

I have a 96 Jayco Pelican and just have repacked the bearing with grease and now having issues ajusting the brakes....thats hand brake not setting for elec brakes etc.

I found that I could spin the wheels with only a tad of brake shoe drag that I was happy with and when hand brake aplied the wheels didnt move etc, but as soon as I release the brake the wheels are harder to move, then free up a bit but still to much brake drag for my liking.....any ideas please or a link to a good site?

Also I did try and ajust the turnbuckle near the handle and at the start I ajusted the brake shoe ajuster inside the hub from under the van with a screwdriver through a little slot at the back of the hub backing plate etc..........I started so there wasent any shoe drag at all etc.....:confused:

you may need to lube up the pulleys if its the cable type brake system.....
and make sure the brake shoes move freely so they can return.....
check the return springs arent broken........

Ok thanks, from memory the cable's run via steel loops welded to the chassis and the return springs look ok and I think they are the small ones at the bottom of the two.....everything look and was free moving, I just cant work out why its still dragging when th brake is released......maybe I shoulent have touched the turnbuckle ajustment at all.........
