Bugger ! My new 130 has a name...

Names for vehicles come in many ways, but usually a name just springs to mind that "suits" it.

Of course there are exceptions when my mad mate called my last Defender "Doris"

Anyway, a day at Crystalvale and my new 130 HCPU has a name (thanks Chris)

Perhaps it's because it's like a faithful old dog, or perhaps some other reason but his (her?) name is .....

"Rolly"

I like the name it's just the reason I wasn't so keen on.....

That's not Rolly - that's "Sleepy" or possibly "40 winks", maybe even a "Siesta" but definitely not a roll!!!

Much Damage?
How did it happen.

1. Roof, pax door, windows pax side, canopy, side steps, sill panel few side mirror, few other bits and bobs. Suprisingly little... considering the potential.
2. Slowly.

I'm sure you insured it so there shouldn't be anything to worry about. As much as you must be close to tears about the situation.

A guy in our 4wd club rolled his Hilux (over and over - write off) and NRMA paid him out.

Mrs Vlad wasn;t in at the time (by sheer luck she'd deided to have a chinwag and not come on that hill!) and noone was injured and I am insured so yeah put it down to bad luck.

Geez maybe shoulda come down a day early to catch up with our guys :p:p:p

Just kidding... bad luck for sure... where did it happen? I've written off a vehicle rolling it down a hill there... and almost had a few other roll-overs with a couple members too.

Glad all okay though :D

Think it was hill number 28. Thats what was on the sign I stuck back in the ground after it was "righted".

Folks.... it can happen to anyone and with little warning.

Thankfully everyone was OK (except of course Rolly).

The score today.... gravity and physics 2, Land Rovers nil.

I think the quote of the day was....

"Well if thats what can happen to the president, what's going to happen to a lowly surf like me....."

At a guess, most likely wrong, weight distribution of the vehicle is different to what Vlad is used to. I found the same driving my 110 as opposed to my disco offroad. Plus observing George130 driving plus a previous 130 i went 4wding with in the past, the 130's crew cabs have to take different lines to the 110's due to this.

You buggers always pick these tracks that the 130's can't take. We can put our front wheels in the same spot but the back doesn't like that idea. In a 130 you tent to take the corner wider as the back cuts in further or I'm not going fast enough to get the slid right:twisted:.

Well it has to be "Rolly" I think coz 1. It's a cooler name and 2. I dont think it can be chamged !

Are you keeping the 110? How many kms on it?

Oh dear, Vlad. I like Andy's name for you though. "Vlad the Landy Slayer'
I bet the lady chewed your ear for a couple of days after. At least it's only pride and metal, not bones and body that got hurt. Not counting the grief from HWMBO.
Cheers Richard.

mate,

I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Sh*t happens and in the most unlikely places.

Over the years I've seen a few Army jobs put on their side. It really helps to clean underneath and inspect for damage and rust :D

The interesting part is most started and continued on after :)

I would have left the battle scars in place.
That way parking spots are always yours and no one will try to **** you off :)

There is a bright side to every situation.

Cheers,
