I reckon it would be cool using a Rover V8 as the base- and lighter.

So you might as well not bother turning the motor into a BBQ and just sit the motor on the back verandah :)

I think I need you to talk to my girlfriend. She doesn't seem to think an engine on the back verandah is that good an idea:(.

Great idea ruined in execution. Why on earther would you choose that engine when you could use something beautiful like a 4 cylinder series engine? Or a Tdi?

Can you imagine we'd have a whole new range of threads in the Tech section

"Hi All, I am using an old series 6 cylinder block and head as a barbecue but it seems to be over cooking at the edge of my steaks? Can you advise? Worried."

"Dear Worried, others may be able to correct me but the six cylindar block is notorious for getting too hot on the end cylinders and this has been known to burn out the jets. Many here reckon that if you're going the barbecue route, then the original 4 cylinder block, although slower and uses more gas, it is much more reliable"

or

"Hi All, I've made a barbecue out of a TD5 and the temperature just went through the roof and the barbecue stopped. Is this going to be $$$$$?"

"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, mate but you're up for a new lid and that is $$$$$"
