Hi Guys
Its on next week.
Is it worth going???
My main interest would be to look at camper trailers so I can work out what sort of top to get made.

Andy , having seen your camper , seems to me that you are a clever cookie and need not to wait till next week to work out what sort of top to make for your camper trailer.:D:D:D
The camper has come along very well mate.

Thanks.
But I wish to buy a "bolt on" Camper trailer top.
Can do lots with metal but canvas is way beyond me!!!!

I recon it would be good to go, at least you will see the latest designs and may come across something you havent thought of. Also, they do tend to discount stuff, but my m8 who owns freedom caravans reconds you can haggle for the same discount at anytime of the year - it's just that they put it in your face at the show.

I am planning to go. I think it is at the showgrounds this year so parking may be difficult. Perhaps meet at my place and go in in the Disco (7 seats) and perhaps pick up other AULRO folks on the way or drive/ride from Armidale or Midland on the train.
Cheers

Andrew, I'm around next week, but not sure I can risk going and probably spending too much whilst there. However, if you do make it up to town, pop in for a beer at least - especially if you're with Graham and happen to pick Ken up on the way! ;)

Hey Guy's,
That is what I am planning. Catching the train that is, from Gosnells. I don't know what day yet, probably Saturday.
I have been trying to get a couple of free passes from the people I am buying my camper trailer from, but probably would have more luck if it wasn't so far along. It is not as if they need to sell it to me now:(
Anyhow I want to got to see if there are any specials. I am especially looking at battery chargers.

Hi Andy
Yep worth it i think, going for a look saturday or Sunday which evers the cooler day, not buying.
Last time we ventured there was stinking hot, some of the exibitors had fans with high pressure mist sprays attached, thought i was in QLD except no meter maids.
Good to catch up, if you need to a place to camp or beds over the weekend no problems can do, let me know.
Cheers

Andrew have a look under camper trailers on ebay
Has blown me away
$3400 with a trailer brand new or $1300 for just a tent /canvas to put on your trailer.
for that sort of money if it lasted for only several years and I got good use out of it I would be able to buy another.
I am looking now for myself.

Looks like I'm driving down to Perth this week to make arrangements for a new job I'm starting, so will time it so that I can get to the Caravan & Camping show while I'm down there. Not sure which day yet - hopefully Thursday or Friday to beat the weekend rush.

I went to it on Thurs, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Great if your after a campertrailer or caravan, but very minimal 4x4 stands. I was hoping to get a good deal on a UHF but there wasn't any anywhere.
Just my thoughts
cheers matt

Hi Guys,
Heads up, I was planning on catching the train to the show on the Armadale line myself. Just checked on the Transperth website and it's closed for repairs this weekend (whole weekend). If your planning to catch the train, you'd better catch it from the Midland line. :)

Got to say the Caravan & Camping Expo, 4x4 and Outdoor Expo and The Boat Expos are a rort. They charge you to get in to spend money, much like the royal show these days.
The stuff they call entertainment that is included in you admission is nothing more than a joke.

I'd love to hear opinions and feedback about what was good or poor about the show!
Review, anyone?

Well it depended on what you wanted I suppose if it was good or not. As already pointed out someone was looking for UHF radios and was dissapointed, I only saw one vendor with them and they were tucked in a corner that I only saw them the second time I passed through that area.
If you wanted Kayaks, tents, Camper trailers and caravans, no probs they were everywhere. I personally went for three things to check out the pioneer campers and chat to the guys there, basically give them a reminder the one I have ordered is due next week (squeaky wheel theory) and also check that mine was not on display. I also wanted to look for specials on solar panels and a CTEK battery charger. There were only a couple of vendors with solar panels and yhey were too expensive, but I did get the battery charger I wanted.
I don't know what the parking was like as I used public transport. That was an idea that nearly came undone as the trains on the armadale line are not running the whole weekend Friday night to Sunday night. Fendy130 alerted us to that in this thread (thanks Fendy130). I caught the bus into the city then a train to the showgrounds, and back again afterwards.
It made for a long day but my opinion is apart from the transport issue and the cost of food it was all good.

While looking at a caravan today a salesman snorted when I told him I was thinking of a Disco to do the trip in, informed me it wouldn't tow it, I needed to buy a Patrol, Navara or a Cruiser.
Some salesman amaze me, and to think they are getting a commission!
