Hi all , I have a 1994 Vouge SE , the air bags have been replaced with coils, the air compressor is still linked to the computer , can I use the compressor to pump up the tires? will it stuff up the computer ?

The ECU for the air suspension is separate from the engine and ABS ecu`s so you can do with it what you like, mine was still in the car when I purchased it but I have since pulled it out ( anyone want one ). As for using the existing compressor as a tyre inflater see....Range Rover Classic (http://www.eastcoastrover.com/98.html) for some pics and limited info, I am sure a "google" will bring up more. As these compressors don`t have the best reputation why not go for a half decent Accessory type compressor.

I have now done this on my car, the compressor has been fitted with a new seal and is connected direct to the air tank via existing tubing. I have a Nitto type air fitting take off. I used the existing redundant wiring and relays to switch off the pump when the tank reaches Max pressure (thanks Luke for the info) plus a main on off switch to the compressor. A real easy and cheap use of otherwise unused bits. All the fittings I needed were off the shelf from Pirtek. Now I have some serious on board air.

You can, but the ECU watches the compressor run time. As pumping your tyres up will use a lot of compressor run time and put the switch in a low pressure state for an extended period, this can put it into a fault state and send it crashing to the bump stops.
The other issue is with the compressor thermal cutout switch. This can be bypassed but the run time monitoring can't.
This has happened on a number of occasions to people who have tapped in a takeoff point and when your in the middle of the bush or on a beach, its not fun!!!
In your situation the airbags arent installed but you will need to run a separate power and switch arrangement to the pump. If you have removed the height sensors, the ECU will fault and any hard fault disables the compressor.
It is still possible to do it on an automatic arrangement using the pressure switch, but remove it from the ECU.
PM me if you want to offload the ECU too!!!
