G'day one and all - am thinking of a holiday in the Flinders this autumn. We've not been there before and are wondering what sights, places are a 'must visit'. We will camp and do day hikes. Any other treats in the area? We have about 10days or so from the eastern state....

Thanks

Average temperature can still be in the mid to high 20s. But its generally a dry heat without humidity. Check out this and look at the bottom of the page for "Climate" Flinders Ranges & Outback, South Australia (http://www.flindersoutback.com/welcome_to_the_flinders_ranges_and_outback).

Highlights for me were Skytrek, all of Arkaroola including the Ridge Top Tour, flight over Wilpena Pound and the Feral Mixed Grill at Parachilna.

Here is my diary of the Flinders

I would definitely recommend doing the Oratunga drive. Its was almost as good as the Skytrek trip.

I would also recommend doing a scenic flight out of Rawnsley park. It is an awesome way to see the Wilpena Pound and really gives you an idea of the geography of the area.

And finally...stop into Quorn or Copley for a Quondong Pie! They are awesome!
