This is up for auction today through Pickles at Tullamarine:
7359

7360

Here's the auction link:
Vehicle Detail - Pickles Auctions Australia (http://www.pickles.com.au/damaged/vehicle/CP-10-07-Land-Rover-Defender-110-03MY-Wagon-7-Seats/itemid-1-2062621/lotid-252111208)

Does anyone know the car ?
There's no plate or VIN info though so that's probably going to be a 'no'.

Might make for a good conversion or even a reshell as it's not a stat w/o.

StevePickles probably haven't updated their database yet. It'll be the closest they could find on their list I'd say.

Wasn't that previous one silver? http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/52347-so-who-vic-rolled-their-07-defender.html

And who said that Defenders don't roll over? Was a very rare incident with the old Series Land Rovers.

From my observations of 4WD rolled over write-offs at auctions, they are mostly a diagonal roll-over pivoting over the front left corner and damaging that corner and the LH roof. I reason this to be from going too quickly into roundabouts.

Going into a roundabout at a speed that would result in a roll over should be an offence where they remove the drivers licence permanently. It was obviously a speed too great to be able to stop and give way to other motorists.

What I do know about rollovers in high centre of gravity vehicles is that it only takes a loss of directional stability as in: a fishtail swerve; being sideswiped; or as often seen of those Police type videos where they use the "pit maneouver". The potential to roll is only made worse by long travel springs and soft suspension.

Only this week on the UK show "Road Wars" the no 1 crash was a roll over of a Ford Explorer. The scenario was a car entering a motorway, a driver in the affected lane making a sudden lane change, probably with the FE in the "dead spot" of the mirror, the driver of the FE avoiding the lane change and overcorrecting when she hit the gravel. You guessed it a diagonal roll over. :(:(

So how fast do you go through roundabouts?

I wonder if it was a press or company vehicle that was damaged and they choose to auction it as they wouldn't want to repair it and put it through the dealer network.

It sold for $21500 or $22500 + admin fees etc. Rego number was ULR--- & was first registered by ULR so it may have been a demo vejhicle.

Must have been some desk-jockey testing the new Defender to its limits. No-one on this site has ever rolled a vehicle, have they!

My belief is that they were driven by twin set and pearls private school mums who thought they were still driving the Bimmer or Lexota.

Regardless of the type of vehicle they would normally drive, I would think these would be the least likely people to roll a vehicle:eek: especially on a roundabout or corner of any kind.

Watch them one day, boring into the roundabouts and traffic calming devices in Clayfield/Ascot. Trailing throttle and full understeer, nose down. No idea of what they are driving, music and air on, oblivious.

ULR have reserved all/some of the ULR___ plates from vicroads so it could have been anyone who bought a car from them.

My new defender will have plates ULR288 and its not due until July.

Still, that price is pretty cheap, as I don't think it would cost more that 10K to repair
