My son bought a Nissan off eBay. It is registered in Qld.

How can I check if it has been transferred to his name at a Qld address?

Ron,

Your son should get a signed transfer of rego paper from the seller. It is then up to the buyer to transfer the rego.

You'll need to call the DOT/RTA mob in QLD and ask if it has been transfered, i think you'll need the rego number and your son's details and if their like the RTA, you may need to be your son for the conversation as they mighten give those details to a second party.

If you know a Qld copper they might be able to have it checked given the circumstances. All they would need is the licence plate number or a VIN number.

Ron,

It's very unlikely they would have transferred it to Buckos name in QLD.
He would've needed a Certificate of Inspection and proof of a QLD address to do it.
I don't think they'll give you much assistance unfortunately either, due to privacy and their 'can't be bothered' attitude.

I still have a few contacts in QT..PM sent;)

Write to them as The Executor explaining that the vehicle is part of the estate and requesting they advise you of its registration status and details of any monies owing by or to the estate. You may need to provide proof of identity and a certified true copy of the death certificate.

I would have to agree based on my experience on trying to get rego history for my 101. Even though I have the plates, because it was never registered in QLD in my name, they would release absolutely no information - even if it had no privacy information attached - wouldn't even confirm it had ever been registered.
