Am veering off course to buy - maybe - a D2 V8 instead of a P38A. So maybe I am now only 1/2 mad (!) Just kidding, I love Discos and I think maybe a really good, late-model P38A is out of my price range.

Did a search but couldn't anything relevant to D2 V8 prices recently.

Prices are at high teens in the ads, but I sold my 99 V8 auto 5-seat 111,000km just over a year ago for $11k. It was a good car (wish I'd kept it now!) but I know how hard it is to sell a V8 4WD in today's market. It was only when I dropped the price below $12k that I actually got any interest. First guy who saw it bought it on the spot though.

So I'm going to look at a private sale, one-owner '99 V8 man 7-seat with low kays (under 100,000km) this afternoon. What's one of these worth? $12k? $13k? I want to make a fair offer, but geez, what does 'a fair offer' look like in this current market? I am not bargain hunting but then I don't want to be ripped off, either.

Redbook is kinda useful, but it doesn't give a price for the 7-seat option 99 model, and its kay range is from 120k km. It says $11.7k top private price for a 5-seat manual. That's a long way from $17k.

I know it's worth what someone is prepared to pay but speaking from experience I get the feeling that those asking $17k for a 99 V8 are just not going to get it. My feeling is around $12.5-$13k for a good low-kay car but I have no idea...

I bought an 02 V8 Manual in November for 17k, under 100k's with loads of goodies, Maxi Drive, bullbar ,Snorkel, new exhaust, Leather, DVD, big 33" muddies, and other things I've forgotten, good deal at the time, who knows what it's worth at the moment though?

good luck,

Ray

i went to look at a 99 td5 for 13,600 but wasnt ultra low k's and needed a tidyup but was 7 seat with ACE.

friend has just bought a 2002 td5 for 17k

there is a v8 in green in the same auction house as the first one with arb bar (but could be plenty of other stuff i didnt look close) guy was saying he expects to get less than 10k for that.. i think that was a 2001

seems to be lots of good value around but also a huge amount of people trying it on!

still cheap compared to a toynissan tho...

im in the process of trying to find a bargain second disco or cheap defender.. so good luck!

Thanks

Howdy fellas
Well, here in NZ you can get a P38 Rangie for $10k or less and an early DII V8 will cost about $14k with 100000km on it. Why are the Rangies cheaper? Easy.. cos the climate air computer WILL go west at a cost of $4k for a new one and the air suspension WILL also go west but that is easly replaced with coils.
The cheap way to go is P38 but they will give more grieff!!
