...filmed in April '07 at the Defender launch.

That little stunt was performed in the car park at Eastnor and was one of the last things shown to the guests attending the launch event.

No matter how many times I see it, I still find it impressive.

:p

Actually... I think that's a video taken at one of the venues on the European tour that was done to launch the Defender. British car, on British plates and although the resolution is poor, I think it's the British guys doing it.

the initial truck tow one doesnt impress me, you can do parts 1 + 2 with a series rover....

however part 3 and the subsequent video....

lets see ya do that with a pootrol or cruiser.

I must say a lot of people around here don't like TC but it works pretty well....

I heard a story of a Land Cruiser that pulled a truck out of a bog up north, the driver was sa impressed with the vehicle he sent a letter to Toyota saying how good the car was:). They then sent a letter back saying his warranty was void because he had excedded the max towing capacity:wasntme:. But obviolsly Land Rover are encouraging this kind of use for their cars.:):)

Not me, I like TC

Anti-stall also good thing, I used it several times (low range no driver). Once when I bogged by myself, so had to "assist" to my Landy to get out. I must tell manual winching very hard exercise for one person, the anti-stall came to help. Other time just for show off  Our clubbers were very impressed when Landy got up the hill in quarry without me on driver seat.

Isn't there a bit in one of the manuals about using low range and don't exceep 20km/h to tow 20tons short distances?

So it's not just me...

I thought there was something like that too. I went to look it up but I couldn't find it. I suspect the lawyers got twitchy about having it in writing so it's been taken out.

Over here, Range Rovers are used a lot by the motorway traffic cops, if there's a broken down truck blocking the carriage way, they'll use the RaRo to tow it off. They've also been known to use their RaRos to drag tractor trailer rigs out of snow drifts.

impressive indeed, although I would like to see it done on other 4WD's to compare

BTW - That vid shows it being done in 1st low... It did also work in 2nd low. However, in 2nd it wasn't quite as smooth so they just stuck to using 1st.

I have pulled a 12ton pantec with tripple axel carravan on the back out of the grassy island on the freeway. He tried to do a uturn but bottomed out so his rear wheels were off the ground.
