C'mon, what will you fess up to....I have noticed remarkable changes on this journey called life regarding music in particular.
Lately they have been quite stunning on a personal level.
I resisted Michael Buble thinking he would be a talentless imitator and bought the C.D at 65% off the other day, and he impressed the ---- out of me.
Also, another risky admission, I always felt repelled by Kenny Rogers.
I hated him.
I hated ALL C&W.
Lately, I listened carefully to Kenny and decided he was one talented Mo Fo.
I also liked a few Johhny Cash tunes.
I know I had good taste when I was younger, so am I losing it or is this getting old gig a development of the senses....in some aspects?

I think it's just a function of learning to appreciate, mellowing out and the simple fact that most modern music is absolute garbage (IMO);)

Hmmm dunno, I still listen to the same type of music that I did when I was younger. JJJ is always on the radio, CD's mainly alternative or heavy/ hard rock..........and the kids love it. Always been a big fan of KISS and Gun's and Roses so they get a bit of play in the CD player in the car. Can't say I have changed my taste in music...or TV...or Movies...or food or beer :D. Just look a bit worser for wear :)

My music appreciation is growing broader but i draw the line at C&W although i dont mind the oldies like Johnny Cash/ Merl Haggered etc, otherwise i'm listening to more indy than i did when i was 20 years younger.

I have always listened to a variety of music. But every now and then - its the classics... Shadows, Charlie Pride, Angels, Charlie Pride, Jim Reeves, Charlie Pride, Marty Robbins for starters.:D:D:D

When I come into the 'current time' - its more like Chris LeDoux, Dwight Yoakam and Alan Jackson. ;)

But then I do get caught listening to INXS, Guns and Roses, Chisel etc.

Dont know about maturing in taste, just like what I like ;)

JJJ is always on, until the wife gets in. She shoved a country music casset in to the player and it got stuck!! Haven't got it out yet, chewed up pretty bad.

Triple J is as commercialised as the rest, real "muso" types listen to RRR:p

I used to listen to Gold 104.3, now its Vega 91.5:eek:

Yep, gone to a bit of effort to get it here in the sticks:D

I think that most people will listen to anything as long as it is catchy and has a good beat to it .
Myself i have a very wide range of music from Limp Bizkit to techno to country and a few rodney rudes cd's in there as well ;):D.

i agree about 95% of whats put out today is pretty much trash.
however theres always good country and the occasional remix of some classic oldies !

if I ever saw it in a shop Id buy it for sure

"JJJ - You're paying for it anyway, why not listen."

Bloody hell:o:o

Now I know I have to move into the 21st Century - and I don't give a rats admitting to this - I was wondering who the hell JJJ was:eek:

JJ Cale is cool. But I wondered if this JJJ was JJ.

Alas a post further on enlightened me - Triple J - a radio station.

Sorry, I ceased listening to imbecile disc jockeys many years ago - I listen to the Cricket Test Matches - and revel in the fact that the Great Betrayer, Traitor and Goose has reduced air-time as a result of being the Pakistani Coach - otherwise my radio air-time would have been near zero.

This post may amuse you - however you should read the many posts on this thread before judging. Many contradictions and insights to a person's personality.

Which of course is what music is - both a reflection of a person's current mood and an insight to their deeper personality.

I do listen to the ABC - some good interviews there. As for music - the mood sets the tune - definitely not the person behind the microphone.

I gave up listening to JJJ years ago. The only interesting thing there is Dr Karl.

Radio is made or broken by the DJs and JJJ's are a real turn-off.

I find most radio these days is pretty bad. I hate breakfast shows.

My music taste varies depending on the mood I am in. Anything from Il Devo to Hawkwind as long as it is "quality" music. I rarely listen to one radio station for long as I prefer to listen to music, not some clown cr**ing on for ages.

JJJ for me too, actually i started with Double J, i like alot of the new bands around at the moment, of coarse some are crap too, i have never liked house/disco, country or western and i especially hate electonic stuff.

My favourite music is late 60s to late 70s, Free, Zeppelin, Bad Company Sabbath, Cream, BTO, Deep Purple and so on.

I found alot of the new young bands are playing rock blues in the style of bands like free and Bad Company, Incabus, Jet, Grinspoon are bands that comes to mind.

I only have 1 vinyl record of Sabbath left Vol 4 and it's a channel 7 record newer release, as with alot of my old records they were either stolen, worn out or lost over the years.

I have now replaced most with CDs.

Thats why i like triple j, far less dj banter than the commercial stations.
Sport on the radio is akin to watching paint dry- its the 21 century after all not the 1930's.:D

As a recycled teenager I still like the old rock and roll from the 50/60s along with country old and new, and in general most music I have about 15,000 mixed songs on my ex hard drive and yes I do listen to them at times BUT I cant stand what the young one call music today I have 4 grand kids that use my second computer to down load and I often wounder if they will still be as keen for it when they are my age, ( 60) as my generation is to day for what we grew up with , I look at my son and daughter they are in their late 30's they don't listen to a lot of their child hood music, they want to burn alot of my middle off the road and rock & roll my son even slowly showing a liking for some country.
A word of caution, If you are thinking of becomeing a recycled teenage be sure to keep your ambitions and capabilitys segregated and never let your hormones come into play at the same time .

I have only ever bought about 3 records in my life, years ago.
I like to listen to classical tenors, like Pavaroti etc, on TV occasionally.
I dont ever listen to radio, we have a wireless somewhere in the house
but I dont know if it still works.
The radio's in all my cars and trucks, now and in the past have never been switched on.
I wont ride in a vehicle if the driver has to have the radio on all the time,
all of that drivel and noise infuriates me.
When I worked in the big smoke, we went to live theatre and the balet
regularly, loved it.

I wont watch american shows.
I watch ABC and SBS and will only watch commercial for some sport like
cricket or a bike race.
When my wife watches her programs I go off and read or spend time in my
computer room.
I dont socialise.
When I die, I want to come back a 100 odd year ago and be a Drover
in the top end !
You would not want to know me.

Having 3 teenage boys I am forced to listed to all sorts of bash your head up against a brick wall crapola, its a slur on the word music but maybe I am just cranky and old and quiet happy to sit back and listen to my Brookes and Dunn CD, if I really want some peace and quiet and specially if the kids have mates over and they are going for broke with noise I crack out the Foster and Allen and crank it, you have never seen kids lit out of a house like they was shot out a cannon, works everytime!, and if you want them to run even faster with the possiblility of not coming back remember that crappy little German song about the dinosaur sung by a little girl, shnee shnaw schnappy or something like that, fire that up, works better then ABBA

I think my musical tastes have changed mostly due to the failing of my ears. I listen to pretty much all music bar rap, never could come to calling it music.

I have always loved a wide variety from Vivaldi to Maryln Manson, love Metalical but as it has to be played pretty loud to truely appreciate it (metal) I am finding myself listening to blues more and more or if it is the radio invariably it is radio national first, news station, sometimes JJJ or the sounds of silence - love that V8 burrble
